Definitely a great read! The difference between real steel sniping and airsoft sniping was stated clearly. I still love the snipers game no matter the arens tho. hehe.

GREAT GUIDE!!! I Am brand new to airsoftsociety, and i am a sniper. My first gun was a UTG M324, my current gun a UTG MK96 shadow Ops. I will look over this guide several more times before my next game. (Just with buddies until I get good enough for a team)

this may sound stupid but watch the altamite sniper series on the youtube, if you learn how to read the wind well enought you can squeeze more range out of your gun. On the chart it says a 400FPS rifle with a .20 Gram BB can go about 180FT but if you read the wind correctly you might get 190 to 195 out of it.

Looking for the best M4 or really any AEG for under $200? Look not further than the G&G Combat Machine M4 (Blowback or Non-Blowback).

absolutely correct. sniping isnt just pulling the trigger and shooting 1 guy. it is a complicated technique. real snipers must take in various information about the area before they take a shot.
some things that have to be considered(for real sniping)
-temperature
-humidity
-wind(airsoft too)
-normal downfall of the bullet(airsoft too)

The main thing about sniping is that you have to remember that there's a fine line between sniper and Designated Marksman. A Designated Marksman should usually use an M16, he will usually team up with other players with smaller guns designed for shorter ranges, and take longer-range shots. A sniper will usually work solo, or he'll run with a spotter. Great guide.

Wow, this really helped me alot. I'm itching to be an airsoft sniper/marksman myself and when I read the title of this post it really caught my eye. Thanks for the help!

-"if you imagine trying to throw a ping pong ball and a squash ball (two balls of similar size but very different mass...), which do you think would go further if you used the same force to throw them? larger mass stores more kinetic energy requiring more opposing force to to counter that kinetic energy."-

Man I'm on summer vacation why'd you have to bring up science and math? jk lol you do have a point there though. I didn't really understand how the whole heaver shoots farther thing worked either. I can see why longer barrels = longer range works though.
