Default Noticed Something While Visiting Retailers Online

Tokyo Marui products have increased in price big time. The last time I checked the TM Uzi AEG was right around $195 at RedWolf. Now it's like $242, that's more than some US based retailers like Airsoft Atlanta. I didn't check but it is possible that RedWolf is now including shipping in their prices.

Its likely because of all the problems with airsoft manufacturing, everything is likely going to start rising, once the stocks in the US are depleted then the new price changes will likely hit the US as well. I have heard from many of my distributors the cost of most airsoft things will be increased shortly.

Marui guns are extremely unpopular sellers in the US and virtually every distributor has ceased importing anything TM over the last year or two. Lack of demand; high shipping prices (one rifle used to cost around $50 to ship from overseas; now around $100 is more typical), duties and tariffs; TM's insistence on using trademarks in violation of US laws, and other factors are only going to drive prices up, rather than down.

TM has had more than 10 years to set up an office and small warehouse here in the US to represent themselves, yet they haven't. They have no interest in the US market and zero desire to cater to the American player base. They don't even print their catalog in English.

They don't go to the Shot Show or other conventions to demonstrate their products and meet and greet with customers, retailers and distributors. A company with such little interest in the player base outside of their own country, will only see their market share continue to evaporate and their image diminish.

TM barely even makes any new products anymore. Nothing terribly exciting has come out of their company in years.

The Taiwanese companies have been kicking the crap out of the Japanese companies for years now, and that trend will only continue.

Same here,,,,way to much good stuff coming out of China and Taiwan.

Irish players just aint paying the money for them anymore,,its nice that they have added metal bodies to some of their newer stuff,,,but my god they are expensive.

Their recoil engine'd M4 sopmod had promise but they are well over 700 euro without battery and charger over here,,,,and as for their recoil/blowback AKS 74U,,,,,,the plastic wood is just not acceptable at that price.

Another big minus is the fact that all their newer electric stuff is mag specific,,,thats a big no in the airsoft world.

They are(when you think about it) the original sportline maker,,,,plastic body's with reliable if not exactly quality internals,,,,,they need to raise their game.

Its a shame because there is no doubting their performance.

Haven't prices been rising since the China crackdown? Supply and demand seems to be kicking in. When searching for my first gun, I took note of which retailers were trying to price gouge me on a CYMA. I also took note of the ones who kept prices sane.

i noticed on evike that half the marui selection is now 'special order'...heck, i got my mc51 for $220 with a battery and bb's (it was normally like $280 alone) - i asked why and they said they were trying to get rid of em....and those high cycle g3's and mp5's are like $345 or something...not sure how well those are gonna sell

Taiwanese companies are the bomb. I would never buy a TM tbh.

TM being from Japan, should not have been affected by the Chinese new Year mixup, other than increasing sales during that short period!

TM is more focused on their model trains, than airsoft now. It is a shame too, since the new SOPMODs are really nice, but the proprietary mags blow chunks. At least their new G36K uses normal TM style mags.
