Personally, being a sniper doesn't appeal to me, but I've been talking about it with some friends, and I think unless you're ready to really take a plunge into the world of expensive guns, your best bet would be to modify an M4 into a sniper rifle. You can get a decent M4 for cheap, upgrade all the internals and put a bad-*** scope on it for less than a new sniper rifle. Also, when the rest of your team is out and you're the only guy left, you can get up, and all of a sudden you aren't the sniper, you're the guy with the heavily modified M4 that is going to take out the other team.
I was actually reading about how DEVGRU and Delta Force ACTUALLY do that, because they need the flexibility of being both a sniper and a rifleman, because they are in small groups and often have multiple missions that will not allow them to switch guns or specialize in one thing.

Or you could buy a UTG L96 and have a 450-500 FPS sniper rifle out of the box. It even comes with a bipod and you can buy a scope for cheap. It's a clone of the Maruzen APS2, just in a different shell.
Use .25g or.30g BB's and you should have yourself an accurate sniper rifle that can reach out and touch someone.
Either that or th BAR-10. It's a clone of the TM VSR-10 and uses the same parts.

I'm not much of a sniper, but I have a $90 Black Eagle M6. It has been beat up pretty badly, but it still works perfectly. It accurately reaches out to about 75 meters. It lasted me for over a year, but I don't use it much since I got my CA M15A4.

Unfortunately, not without a lot of work.
Remeber, the BE AUG does NOT have an adjustable hop-up, and modifying one to fit will be a major headache (yes, I tried).
To the OP,
Sniping in airsoft isn't so much about long range shots as it is about concealment and stealth (not camping and hiding). Remember, the effective range difference between a good sniper rifle and a good AEG is only about 100 feet, and most players can close that distance in less time than it takes for the sniper to extract himself from their position, let alone take out any additional forces.
The team I play with uses snipers as more of a general intel force rather than a surgical stike team.
I run a JG G-Spec with a modified piston when I play sniper, but mainly, I just plink with it.
I also have an AGM L96 and the spring Well G-22.

Id go with MR iivxiv on this one,,,,,a long barrel aeg converted into a DMR would quench your thirst for the sniper role as well as allowing you to run and gun as a rifle man,,,,check out A&K's SR25(lovely) or the DBOYS M16SPR(very nice),,,,ive converted my G&G M16 A3 into a dmr simply by adding a Harris style bipod,,a carry handle mounted scope and an XM177E2 flashhider along with a short Vietnam style mag so i can get nice and low,,,and when needed i can just slot a 3000 round Cmag in,,,and hey presto,,,,ive got myself a descent support gun .
