Krytac LMG opinions?

Was thinking of getting a christmas present to myself, and so far the Trident LMG is top of the list, usable as a support weapon at milsims, or a decently short rifle for CQB. Plus with the multiple roles the gun can fulfill I can sell off my other guns to fund upgrades.

So what are the generally opinions on this gun? Most of the youtube/online reviews are pretty favorable. But many of the written ones say that the box magazine tends to fall out, though these are a few years old so maybe they've fixed this issue, or there's a workaround for it.

Also do y'all think this'll fit?

The only thing I do not like about it is that it runs a V2 gearbox. That gearbox is no where near as strong and durable as a gearbox designed for an LMG. I run support weapons all the time, and a gearbox such as the ones found in classic army M249s or classic army stoner LMGs are much beefier and way less likely to crack under sustained fire. The V2 gearbox was simply not designed for sustained fire and is way more likely to crack and take heavy damage when using it in that way. There really isn't any way to stop it from happening other than to not shoot long bursts with it and use it more like a rifle rather than a support weapon. In a gearbox like the CA M249 has, I have shot entire box mags on a single trigger pull without any issues or damage to the gearbox (i do not recommend doing that, but it can be done with that gearbox without fear of a gearbox shell failure). The same cannot be said with v2 gearboxes, I have seen a whole lot of V2 gearbox shell failures because it has much much thinner areas that cannot take those kinds of stress.

As long as you keep that in mind and take it easy on the gearbox, it could last long time. But in my opinion, that defeats the purpose of using an LMG, they are designed to suppress and there are platforms out there that do that job better. There are pros and cons to running a hybrid rifle like that though, you get the best of both platforms, but you also get the negatives of both of them too.

I am not saying it is bad or anything. Just consider the pros and cons of it before you buy anything. If you are just fine with short controlled bursts of fire, then this would work for you without much issue. If you are looking for a bullet hose that can have the trigger held for an extended period of time, then an LMG with a more robust gearbox would probably be a better option.

I will say that krytac makes some nice gearboxes and can probably handle more stress than the average gearbox. It also is one of the lightest LMGs and has m4 mag compatibility, those could be major factors to consider as well.
