Hello all! I've been around the forum posting and asking questions on what to buy. I will start out by saying this is not an impression, rather a mixture of different items that I will use as per my preference. Got it? Cool. Kit list: * means I currently have it. BDUs: RAP4 Cadpat BDUs* Second line: flyye 6094 (RG) Flyye triple mag shingle.(RG) TMC 6094 insert Flyye MAP(RG) Flyye medical first aid kit pouch (RG)
First line: civvie belt with no pouches*
Head: Smith Optics Boogies Tan mesh mask* OD ball cap*
Boots: Bates side zip tactical boots, not sure of exact model*
Gun: A&k M16a3

I just want to know what you guys think I should change or improve upon before I buy the kit. Criticisms are welcome. Also, don't expect frequent updates. Money is tight so this kit will be assembled slowly.

I didn't think so then, but now I realize It would probably be a good idea to at least carry a spare battery and Allen key.

Well new plans, I've decided to go for a Canadian infantry inspired loadout. New kit list:
Cadpat BDUs*
Bates boots*
Noggin:
OD ballcap*
PASGT w/ cadpat cover
First line:
Cadpat pistol belt
Second line:
Either CF tactical vest
Or
CPGear MoFOCR (Rifleman setup)
Eye pro: ESS goggles
Gloves: crappy LT hard knuckle gloves

Blaster: looking for an m16 I can modify into a C7, don't know which yet as I will probably buy used.

I think that's everything.

Kit list looks solid, excited to see how this turns out! If you are interested toronto airsoft has a G&P C7 however it has a full RIS so its not kosher and it has a full stock which works for a C7A1 however you could swap it out for a buffer tube and LE stock with a buttpad and rock a C7A2 (please do this!) Best of luck Ill be watching eagerly

Thanks for the notice, but money's tight right now, so I'll probably buy a used m16 like I said. Plus if I do that, I get to be more hands on.

Yeah I understand completely about the tight money problem. Just thought I'd let you know in the future if you get more money. I would definitely love to see the progress you make on the rifle once you get it. What style C7 are you going? How soon will you be able to get kit pics up? I'm so excited to see this done right!

#10 ·
Progress will probably be quite slow to be honest with you. Also, I was hoping to end up with an A2

Cool man. I think the Canadian military is underrated, and under appreciated, that's why I decided to do it. Also, it's good to see someone is interested in my loadout.

I found your load out thread :3 kit looks and sound a good bud, as for the blaster, well, JG has nice M16s

Thanks, arrow. If I decide to buy new, I'll probably pick up a JG. I'll be doing a lot of modifying gear and my gun to be as close as possible to the Canadian gear. I need to make friends with people with workshops. :p

I'm a tech so I can walk you through a V.2 gearbox quite easily, if you decide to upgrade that C7 just ask me when you find a trouble spot

External mods mostly, arrow (buffer tube and LE stock, Elcan scope, tri ad rail, LH upper) but I will do some internal stuff, but that's for my build thread when I get the gun.

Okay, so Christmas is coming (yay!) and I was thinking. I can either get a used m16 off eBay, a new JG and some meags from GI, or I could buy a tacvest, a winter snow over suit plus some bits and bobs and still run my socom 16. I was looking for some feedback as to what you guys think is the best option.

Are you happy with your gun's current performance? What do you have in the way of load bearing gear? When you say "tac vest," you're not talking about a zip up cross draw style vest, right?

#19 · (Edited)
Nope. When I refer to tacvest, I'm referring to the Canadian Forces issue vest (or a repro thereof). My current gear is severely lacking and as soon as I get a new bucking, my current weapon will be fine. So I guess I'll be getting some gear.

E: let me get some pics of the CF vest so you know what I'm talking about.

E2: here you go:

I know you love your Canadian gear, but that thing is going to be slow, bulky, and saggy. Every pouch has buckles. Do you know how much slower it is to draw mags from a buckled pouch compared to an open top or even a velcro closed top? That's what the US was using in the 80s. The mesh structure isn't going to give you any kind of proper weight distribution, it's just not rigid enough. And that pouch configuration is goin to be less than ideal, to put it lightly.

I know it's going to be less than ideal (much less) but I'm trying to do this loadout right. Although not technically kosher for a regular rifleman, I've been looking into a MoFOCR rig:

It's been seen on soldiers with under slung grenade launchers, but I've never seen it on a regular rifleman. What are your thoughts in that?

I think that there has to be some Canadians who use practical gear, not 20-30 year old technology and designs.
This.

Look into CANSOF. They run some cool stuff.

I've looked at doing a CANSOFCOM loadout before, but up to date reference pics are few and far between. But, it would be much more practical gear. I'm off to gearsoc to look at reference pics, I guess. I'll be back at some point with a kit list.
