I bought a used M249 and it doesn't have a spring for the charging handle. Also the spring that holds the top cover pin down is jacked up. Does anyone know where to get these parts? I've searched google for a while now and come up empty. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
I have the charging handle spring floating around somewhere. As for the other spring, do you mean the one between the two locking pins at the rear of the flip up part of the receiver, if so, I may have one of those too. Can you post a picture of it for comparison?
Yea, that is the one imI talking about. Is their a guide rod or something for the charging handle? Usps just destroyed the box and had parts just rolling around in the box. So I don't know whats missing for sure. If you have those I'll definitely buy those from you!.
Yeah, there's a rod, I have it as well. Post a picture of the other spring and I'll see if I have that one, I can't remember what it look like off the top of my head.
There is a wire clip, it looks kind if like a big staple. I remember this because on my friend's gun, his went missing, so when an opportunity to replace it came along, I did. I have several miscellaneous pieces from an M249 that was used as a foundation for my current project. One of the first parts I reclaimed was the entire locking assembly.
I'm not sure what all I'm missing around that area. Usps wrecked it, they broke the front sight, which luckily Evike has one. But that wire clip, I'm missing for sure. If it just looks like a staple hopefully I can just make that piece then.
I do not have that spring; however, you may be able to find it at your local hardware store, not a Home Depot or Lowe's (although they may carry it as well), but an ACE or True Value. Take the spring with you, measure it up to match the diameter and approximate length, if a little longer no big deal, just wouldn't go more than a 1/4 of an inch. Remember, this is a compression spring, which means it needs to have space between the coils, and that means if it's a bit longer it will still compress. In fact, being a bit longer may be a good thing because it means more pressure to hold the locking pins in place.
If you're still interested in the other parts, $7 flat including shipping. E-mail me at bbwars@yahoo.com and I'll send you a PayPal request, be sure to include your mailing address so I can ship it to you.
