o.k. so I have been looking at getting a gas blow back ak styled rifle, the ones I have seen rescently though all have the wooden style full shoulder to them. I want to remove the wooden shoulder and put on an under folding akms style shoulder. is that something a person can do? or would trying to do that possibly damage and cause problems with my rifle? if so how would I go about doing it? I'm not knowledgeable with electronics or good with tools! thanks in advance ~ Kurn'la
If you don't have basic shop skills or tools leave it alone. To do so and make it correct would require you to drill your receiver and hand rivet the correct mount for the folding stock.
^ It is not something you can do with hand tools. Fixed stock models have two tangs out the back. The under folders have holes and mounting drilled in the side.
Actually if you make a template of the hole placement you could drill the holes needed with a hand drill.Success would be determined by accurate measuring.Drilling using a drill press would make it much easier.Trust me on this,I build one off custom guns only any more.
ok, then how do I go about having the stock/shoulder changed? is there a shop or somewhere that does things like that?, that I can contact to have them change it?
I'm gonna ask, what AK gbbr are you looking at getting, because GHK makes an underfolder AKMS model, which is currently the best option it looks like. They are supposed to be damned good, master race and all that...but because most systems are proprietary to the company your looking to get ala We, GHK, getting a receiver set in general would be tough. Maybe a metal working shop or gunsmith might help you?
it's the "Cybergun Kalashnikov AK47 electric blowback aeg rifle -Real wood" from airsoft megastore for $154.00 I want to have the under folding shoulder/stock instead of the wood solid stock/shoulder it comes with, so it'll be easier to use during games.
All though taking stock of the situation, if you took it out to a specialty shop it might be just as much as getting the GHK model. They're 470 USD on redwolf.
That link takes you to there home page,no specific rifle that your interested in.EBB's are mostly garbage. If you want recoil your better off getting a gas rifle.I have heard good things about GHK.WE require upgrading and bench work to make really good. The EBB will cause you more problems than there worth, and putting a stock like that on one will dramatically reduces your battery choices. That in itself is a bad idea.
AEG EBB's are unrealistic, it's what I call a "Jiggly Door". You won't see it move when you use it. The people you shoot at won't care if you have an EBB.
It adds complexity to an AEG that will prevent you from upgrading it it easily in the future and in some models it saps power.
Go FULL GBBR Blow back or buy a 1000.00 AEG that is realistic...some even eject shells...
First recommendation is to get off of ASM. If they're still even offering that model then I wouldn't recommend it. It is Cyma, but not the best of Cyma. I had a Cyma AIMS model for a bit with the clacky door and though it worked, and was mightily noisy on my end of it, served no actual purpose. and from what I understand put's undue stress on the gearbox. I prefer Cyma AK's for value, but they are getting harder and harder to find. I think Lancer bought them out. But yeah, you want real...go look at the GHK AKMS..
Where did you read they take off the markings? That information is out of date. Like 13 years out of date. They just cover it up and 99.98% of the time it gets through.
I mean there's not a lot of markings on an AKMS to scratch off, and Guges is right, they hide them with something to get them through customs. It is Redwolf after all...wish I had a profession that let me shop there all the time...
I read that too in their faq section but it warns it might get confiscated and with my luck would be the .02% that doesn't get through and gets confiscated
I've known Guges mk3 since I first joined Arnies Airsoft Forums in 2006. I trust his take on thing's as much as I trust my own, I know he's been ball's deep in this game for a minute. I also know if you do the foot work you should be able to find a GHK here in the states as well....and definitely find G+P's with 203's all day....
