Well, obviously just about everybody here oughta like real guns. Why not make a thread for the "real steel" as we airsofters call it?

So yeah... discuss everything about real steel here. Your arsenal, your ability, any recent trips to the range, ask questions... Anything.

Me personally? Well, I love guns. I got two rifles and a pistol. The pistol? A Ruger Mk II, a very popular .22 target pistol. I love it, it's just so cute and cuddly and lovable. :3

The rifles? A Browning BAR Safari in .30-06, with a 3-9x40mm Bushnell scope (made in Belgium B/), and a Marlin 336W, in .30-30. Both are very nice, excellent-looking and excellent-shooting guns.

Haven't hunted yet, but I'd love to. And the Marlin 336 is perfect for the brush hunting around Tennessee.

If you plan to hunt, SKS, but...
Plinking's all about dat .22!
.17 hmr is a good replace mentioned for. 22, lot more relyable cartridges.

Personally, I have shot both before

Sks, sadly wins this fight

(I still hate Russian ergonomics and cartridges)

I have an SKS. The only time I would use it is in a Red Dawn scenario. It cycles well, has crisp recoil, easier than it looks to reload, but is limited to: terrible groupings shooting off a bench, bad ergonomics, and being mass produced with 0 crafts man ship.

That's why I own it. I would use my AR to defend myself or family if it was a domestic matter. With my 30 round mags mind you.

What make? the bad accuracy is normally due to crappy ammo (or if you have a non-Yugo the chrome lining) and the ergos on an SKS are decent (bolt hold open after last shot, safety lever on Norincos)

Yeah I mean, it has a 10 round non detachable magazine ( gets around current proposed ban ), also, stripper clips are SO CHEAP. I'll have to talk to my parents about it I guess.

It's genuine Russian made. Since I'm so into 'MURICA I have no idea who made it. It has '47 marks on it I believe. The ammo is copper bullets with a dark brown shell.

I have a 30 round kit as well. The magazine can open from the bottom like an AK with a swivel at the front.

Russian made ammo or gun?
Russian surplus ammo is HORRIBLE about tolerances, now if it is the Tula made commercial non-corrosive ammo it's a different song and dance.

Really? I've heard rather good things about them. I just think think it'd be good to have the 10-22 because of how easy it is to obtain ammo, especially in a revolution scenario. Hmmmmm :/
I believe you can get a AK-47 decently cheap. Well, not after Obama was elected lol. But no worries... I have more mags than bullets will fill. And a pump shotgun that holds 8 shells of buckshot will be Pleanty to shoot through a door and three walls to take out red dawn intruders :p
Hehe, already one in the household. ;)

Russian gun for sure. It's not a clone. There are no marks on the ammo box so...

Well you might want to use non corrosive ammo, if it's a Russian SKS you really really don't want to ruin the barrel on it.
Bag Man. SKS are built like AKs. Throw it, beat it, drown it, roll over it, did I mention mud baths?

:)

I'll look for non corrosive ammo when the gun stores aren't sold out of everything. I can't even find a box of .22 right now. :(

Edit: read back Soviet. :)

The gun I can't wait to get is the HK P30 with the .45 S&W rounds or the HK 45 compact with .45 ACP rounds. I am a huge HK fanboy so they are probably all I will own personally.
