Is APS really that bad? I bought a gun with a APS gearbox and was wondering if there really as bad as everyone says they are.

The field I live near requires a full face protection to play. Would that mean a paintball style mask to be worn or would a two piece (goggles and mesh mouth shield) count as full face protection? Not sure if its required for it to be one piece. No response from the place in weeks so here I am.
