This is a detailed guide on disassembling the A&K Dragunov from flash hider to hop-up. There are disassemblies on the YouTube but none I've seen get this detailed into the trigger box. I don't take everything apart, just get you in so you can get whatever you need done.

    Tips:
-Remove as few screws as possible. If it can simply loosen and allow disassembly, leave it there.
-Keep track of your parts. I tape and label mine to paper.

    Tools Needed
    -1mm Allen Key
    -2mm Allen Key (5/64 inch)
    -3 1/2mm Allen Key (9/64 inch)

    1) Remove Magazine.
    - Remove all optics from the SVD side rail. (Optional)

    Hand guard and Front Assembly.

1)There will be three grub screws under the barrel of the SVD.
One is under the front sight, another is under the gas tube, and the third is under the base of the hand guard. Remove them all. Remember to leave them in loose if they will stay.

    2) Remove the handguard lever by pushing it in toward the barrel and then out toward the front of the gun.
It should slide out of the gun after disengaging.

3)Slide all front assembly parts off of the barrel and put them aside in a place you'll remember. Note: The newer SVD models do NOT have handguards that split open.
    You should have this:

4)Remove the set screws holding the hop-up/barrel to the front assembly. They are located on each side of the protruding black part. Remember the tip of leaving screws partly screwed in if that helps you with organization.

    5) Slide the hop-up and barrel out of the gun. Your front assembly has been taken apart.

    Hop-Up/Barrel

You should have what looks like this out of the gun.

    1) On the bottom and top of the hop-up assembly, there are set screws on the top and bottom as so: Remove (loosen) them to separate the barrel from the hop-up unit.

All of the screws except the middle one are grub screws that hold the assembly together.

2)Remove the front of the three screws to disengage the hop-up from the rest of the unit.

    3) You can now separate the inner barrel from the hop-up chamber.

I'm not going to disassemble the hop-up chamber, but you get the point. From here you can go on to do whatever you will.

    Rear Sight

    1) Push rear sight up until it is folded over the top.

2)Remove/loosen the first screw holding the tension plate.

    3) Once removed, remove/loosen the set screw holding the rear sight in place.

    4) Slide the entire rear sight block off and put it aside.

    5) Remove the screw holding the handguard ring in place and remove it by sliding it forward. Note: This was a very tight fit on my gun, but it comes off fine.

The rear sight assembly is done.

    Spring Assembly

    1) Un-hook and swing dust cover latch to this angle.

    2) Remove dust cover by pulling it out toward you. It should slide right out.

3)With the dust cover off, locate and remove the two screws holding the spring guide block down.

4)Remove the spring guide block by pushing it forward first, then letting it come back while pulling it up.

    5) Slide everything out of the gun and place it aside.

6)Turn the safety and un-hooking lever to where they are level with the gun's base.

    7) Slide the bolt/cylinder and nozzle out.

    Your spring assembly is done.

    Trigger Box/Safety Mechanism

    1) Locate the pin on the left side of the gun near the mag well.
You will need to tap this pin out with either a mallet or hammer and a thin point. (I used a hex key).

    2) The pin will begin to protrude from the fire-select side of the gun. Simply pull it out.

    3) The trigger box will slide downwards and out of the gun.

    4) Unscrew the screw holding the trigger guard.

    5) On the back of the trigger box do the same. Notice the small spring. This is how the safety is held in place.

    6) DO NOT lose these pieces. They are VITAL for your safety mechanism to function properly.

7)Let the safety lever fall backwards and give it's set screw some loosening.

You will be greeted with these parts.

From here on out the trigger box is held together through a pin-design.
Be my guest to knock a few out and look around inside, but I'm going to pass on it for now.

    Trigger Box Reassembly

To correctly reassemble the trigger box, you must place the parts in the right order. If you do not, the gun's safety feature will not function.

This hole is key in piecing the safety together.

    1) Start by re-attaching this screw and safety lever.

    2) Place the bottom screw back in place under the trigger guard.

    3) You should have these parts left. Grab the spring.

4)The spring aligns to where the straight end of the spring can enter the hole mentioned above. The larger circle should rest above the screw hole.

    5) Place the loose end of the trigger guard over the spring and push the screw through both the back side of the trigger guard and the spring's aligned hole. Tighten this screw.

Your trigger box has been successfully reassembled.

Remember to be patient when disassembling/reassembling. Don't force anything and don't pull/press too hard on any one thing. Label and save all of your parts and screws in a safe place. I tape and label my parts as shown above. Thanks and have fun modifying your A&K SVD!

Does anyone know of any companies that make or are going to make upgraded trigger and piston sears for this gun? Or can the stock ones handle a stronger spring? The rest of the internals seem surprisingly high quality for such a low-priced gun. I would love to get one and put on a PSO-1 replica and get some wood furniture. There is just something about Dragunovs that I love so much

The stock trigger mechanism can hold stronger springs, but not for very long.
So far, the only upgraded ones I have ever heard of are mine, which are custom made. Do not bother with a PSO-1 scope replica. There is a single half-decent one.

Yeah I've heard mixed reviews on them. I just can't see myself putting a "regular" scope on an SVD. Realism is HUGE for me. I hope Laylax or Angel Custom start making parts for this gun.

So does anyone know where spare parts can be ordered?

I managed to get one of these are part of a trade and it is missing the handguard lever which I can still use it without it but the wobble sucks.

So do any of you guys know where or how to call to try and order one of these?

    Thanks

Thank you so much, i had a problem with the triger system, and had never been able to access it. Thank you so much, now the only thing i need is the upgraded hop up unit, mine broke... :(
    great job though.
