This is my experience with the Hades Arrow.

Not the Safest thing on the market.

Can't watch any videos(internet sucks, plus its snowing). So I'm worried that the mortar actually launches? Or what does it do?

Ive owned them and i must say that they are a giant waster of money. They break easily when the hit hard ground, feilds wont let you use them, and the hurt badly when they hit you. Also the little rubber peices are annoying because they have to be replaced each time and a pack only comes with five:

The stupid thing, is my brother wants to use it like a grenade launcher and fire from 50 feet away.

I can tell, without any experience with the Hades mortar, that using it like that will cause nothing but trouble and pain.

Tell him to get a rocket launcher or an M203 instead. They work like shotguns.

Edit: This one is only $20 more than the Hades:

    M203's are a costly route.
I have 7 shells, only 5 work and they require frequent maintenance to prevent leaks. They are also fairly costly, usualy I spend about 20-30$ for a single shower shell, Co2 powered shells cost much more.
Madbull makes the best 40mm grenade shells IMO but they are not cheap.
Its not like a grenade its more like a shotgun.

In conclusion there is real "grenade launcher" in airsoft.
