I've looked all over the internet and there only seems to be two types of TAR's. The $500 one with a MARS sight, and the $130-$170 one without the MARS sight... These both appear to be the same otherwise... I'm looking to buy the $130 one off Airrattle.com. I have two questions, is AirRattle a reputable airsoft dealer? And is this gun trustworthy and reliable?

If you think those two are the same....clearly you didn't really look at them at all.....

The $130 one isnt even an Ares. Its an S&T.

What they are saying, is the cheaper version is lower quality and performance than the $500 one. I have "the $500 one" called the Ares TAR-21 for sale for $300. PM me if you are interested.

I meant to say that they are the same otherwise EXTERNALLY... Sorry... What I want to know if anyone has had any experiences with the $130 one. And whether or not it would be a gun worth getting or an inexperienced airsofter...

Oh no, the externals ARE different between the two. The S&TS us made of plastic while the Ares is polymer. Also, the Ares has trademarks
    everywhere.

The S&T might be a decent beginner gun. What's your price range?

You may be better suited with other guns

You would be much better off with a G&G Combat Machine or a JG.

    I'd prefer the S&T TAR-21 MGB version, but that's just me :3

The Poly gearbox would be stronger then the cheap potmetal one. An the S&T is a great gun for the price, especially if you can get it for $130.

Wow this is awesome, this was my first post on the AS forums. U guys were all a great help, I'm going to search through the interwebs to see if I can find a deal on the S&T Tavor. U guys are very welcoming to airsoft noobs like me.

    But the plastic feel....
I owned both the ARES and S&T TAR....
If you ask me...ARES all the way....I don't care if they are $350 or whatever...
Both uses proprietary GB with some V6 and V2/3 internals.

Don't get the one with MARS, the MARS is pretty much useless, not parallax free.
