I just got a full metal m4 and i want to put a "silencer" on it but i want the barrel to be at the tip of the silencer. So my question is that if i put a 509mm tight bore barrel on it do i need a bigger cylinder in order for the bbs to be pushed out with the correct amount of air?

Do the math, someone in 5th grade can figure this out. (or maybe even younger.)

    "hint" V = pi r^2 h

A 509mm barrel requires a Type 0 cylinder, that is, a Cylinder with no holes or ports anywhere on it. Take the upper receiver off your gun and look at your cylinder. If it has ports, you need a new cylinder. If it's solid, you don't.

As for your barrel length question, assuming you have a 14.5" model M4, you currently have a 363mm barrel. If you want to go up to a 509mm barrel, then you need a suppressor that is 509-363=146mm long. That's about 5.75 inches. Get a 6" suppressor or longer, just to be safe.

Thanks a lot that everything i needed to know and I'm getting a silencer 190mm long. So that should be plenty thanks so much for your help!

i don't recommend extending your barrel just to fit the space from a suppressor. but that's just me. i prefer the more stable m4 length over m16 length because longer barrels are more prone to vibration affecting accuracy. if this is for cqb, then it doesn't matter. if you play outdoors, semi-auto will not be as effective as full auto. there are many that likes to use mid-caps.

    What? Definitely "seam."
