How come everybody uses completely military BDU, etc. in their loadouts?
There are plenty of movies and video games where they wear a t-shirt, chest rig, balaclava or mask, knee pads, glasses, and boots.

I think it'd be cool, especially for an urban combat type of situation.

Because a lot of us think it's far cooler to replicate the real world than the fictional world. You're welcome to wear whatever you like when you play, however.

[edit] And because none of these people are dressed properly for a combat situation:

Whatever the scenario calls for, in my case.

If the side I'm representing requires a certain cammo, I run that cammo. If I'm playing a civilian role, I wear civilian attire. If I'm an insurgent, I wear insurgent gear. If I'm CIA/PMC/Security, I dress accordinly.

It all adds to the realism and aids in side recognition for milsim, pseudo milsim, and strategy styled games.

That would be what we consider a contractor or PMC loadout. But a lot of like to match there environment so they can draw less attention to themselves.

Because pretending you are a military/law enforcement/security officer is so cool and people love it!

Nah, just yanking you. People do that to show respect for the unit or because they admire it for some reason.

Well, that explains your "Pee Wee Herman" loadout...

I thought that that's what Shifty looks like normally...
I shall defend Pee Wee to my death! He is a part of my childhood!

    Capy,

Try UBBC instead of HTML. UBBC is a pretty universal code for bulletin boards. ;)

Flickr only gave me BBCode, and HTML. Neither seemed to work. Multiple tries, downloads, defeated and linked a video.

Oh, now I remember what I meant.
So like a contractor/mercenary loadout. Not official military.

PMC runs popular. Most simple is tan rig, tan pants, and black polo. But its entirely up to the operator. You do see a team running the same colors though, for recognition.

You want a plate carrier, or something MOLLE oriented, so that you can customize your rig, and aren't stuck to a set rig.
