Good morning, afternoon, or evening, fellow charisofter's. In the past people have complained that it is hard to take down the CYMA M14, and there really are no in depth guides about getting all the way to the gearbox. Which is what I am here to show you today.

    What you will need
    -Flathead screw driver
    -Phillips screw driver
    -An M14
    -Patience

    Choosing a workspace
A desk, table, or even your bed will do fine. Anything works really as long as it's flat, spacey, and not cluttered. I chose my desk.

Step 1: Removing the lower body
Make sure the mag and battery are out, and there are no bb's in the feeding tube. Then, put your finger in the trigger guard and pull down until it pops out. This will also remove the rear part of the magazine release.

Move to the front of the gun, and pull down on the lower body to separate it from the barrel/upper body. Make sure the motor is disconnected from the fuse.

Step 2: Removing the charging handle
Remove this phillips screw located in the middle of the outer barrel

Pull back on the charging handle and remove the flathead screw on the end of the silver cylinder.

Push the operating rod and spring forward, and the remove them by pulling them out of the cylinder

Pull the cylinder back to remove it, and then pull the silver clasp that holds the cylinder in place against the barrel out away from the barrel. There are two sides, and a piece in the middle. You may have to twist and turn these pieces a little to get them out, but it shouldn't be too hard.

should look like this when you are finished.

If the figure 8 piece comes apart, don't fret, here's how it goes back together.

Make sure the little nub is facing up.

Step 3: Removing the outer barrel
Remove these 4 phillips screws, the ones at the back of the barrel. Disregard the red arrow for now, I am working on fixing it.

Then remove the 2 screws closest to the hop up, and the smaller one to the side.

Slide the barrel away from the body.

The little hole in the bottom cover of the barrel should match up with the bump in the outer barrel when you put it back together.

What it should look like when reassembled:

Step 4: Removing the inner barrel and hopup unit

It should look like this when the outer barrel is removed:

Simply pull down and out on the inner barrel to remove it

Step 5: Removing the heat shield

To remove the heat shield, simply twist in either direction to pry it off. It may scratch the receiver, but this is the only way I have figured out to remove it so far.

Step 6: Removing the upper receiver

At this point, it should be looking like this:

Flip it upside down and remove this screw located in the back near the selector switch

This thin side piece should come off, like so:

If you have a scope mount, I would remove it now.

Note: Above the gearbox should be a metal plate with wheels on it that moves when you rack the charging handle. I removed mine earlier because it was getting in the way of the charging handle. You should be able to just pull it out. Also, my gun did not come with a bolt catch, so I do not know how to remove that.

Then, remove the phillips screw to the right of where the scope mount screw was.

Remove the pin on the lower receiver/magazine well

Lift up on the upper receiver to remove it

Step 7: Removing the lower receiver

At this point, your gun should look like this:

Flip it upside down and remove the screw in the magazine well

Then, remove the hopup dial by turning it to the left until it comes loose.

A little nub with a spring on it may come out, it goes in the hole next to the hopup dial.
Now, you should be able to remove the mag well from the gearbox, like so:

That concludes the take down process to the gearbox, if you want to learn how to open the gearbox and about how to remove and put back together the trigger contacts, I am willing to make a guide on that, as well as re-assembly. I hope this is helpful, and please, don't be afraid to offer constructive criticism. I would love to hear your comments, questions, and thoughts as well. Thanks!

    Quick question:

Are the stock bushings metal or plastic?

    What size?

    Also,

The motor is a short type, correct?

I'm quite sure the bushings are metal 6mm bushings. Not sure on the motor though...

motor is short type, my bushings are metal and seem to be 6mm, I'm to lazy to disassemble my gun and check, so hopefully someone will verify this
