I'm thinking that I should let the piston break then replace it and the gears. Will the piston breaking damage my gun? The gear could be damaged I know but I will be changing them anyway, so is it fine. I understand it is not good but is it ok?

I would say replace them with the better parts as soon as possible. This way, the damage that could happen will not, and you will have better performance for a longer period of time. Also, if you were to let them break over time, it will most likely break during a game, which would really suck.

Well in stock form G&P's aren't that bad.

They are made to run on a 9.6v battery and lower.

I'm using a 9.6 I have only put maybe 2k rounds through it. Should I wait a but before adding better parts?

If you're sticking to a 9.6v battery, I don't see why you should be switching out parts yet.

You should be fine. If you stick with that battery.
