I was just wondering if it would be practical to bring an gas blow back to a mil sim game. To me it's pretty much unheard of. I would be interested to know if anyone does do it

GBBRs are arguably the more milsim gun system in airsoft. They have close to real mag capacity, nearly instantaneous trigger response as well as a more realistic reload. The only problem is with their reliability. So like stated above, have a nonGBBR backup gun or two.

Don't forget the weather! If your in a generally chilly area the gad can be a pita! That plus the cost of mags is why I've sadly steered away from them :(

GBB is serving a slightly wider term now. Gas in mag? Depends, do you have the budget to spend about two times what you did on the gun just in magazines? They sure, but take into account that at most you're holding 40 or so rounds in a mag and some milsim events only allow reloading mags in safe zones.

Inline air? Heck yes. AEG mags and more kick than a gas-in-mag gun can achieve, plus they are typically much more robust. They dont suffer from cooldown issues either. Is the gas line a realism issue? Some say it is, but honestly if that is your gripe about it what say you about every firefight sounding like a bunch of rabid sewing machines?

Yes they do but they are pretty pricey, I saw one for a p* for $225+/-. It may just be because I'm gas bias but if your gonna get a gas gun just get real gbbr mags. It forces you to be a better player...

While I'd agree we are talking about milsim events. Longevity is a must for these and GBB's simply are not up to the task of yet in that form. Besides, nothing is stopping you from running low caps on a gas gun such as a Daytona or Polarstar, or the upcoming competitors.

I don't know about you guys but my GBBRs are tuned and correctly maintained. If I encountered a breakdown during an all day event it would most likely be because I did something wrong like not clean the gun the night before or god forbid I drop it.

Stock GBBRs maybe. But someone who is serious about running milsim with a GBBR would not be running a stock gun. Or not for long at least...

Most quality GBBRs have steel upgrade parts available, making them almost as durable as RS.

The weakest link in GBBRs is magazine maintenance (leaks and such), but it's not an insurmountable issue.
I'll take that over an external air line every day of the week and twice on Sundays. JMHO

GBB's are for me, only considered true Mil-Sim. You are trying to replicate real life wars/soldiers. They have 30 rounds in their magazines or 4 rounds in the tube(For me M1014) A PolarStar with hundreds, if not thousands of rounds at your disposable is not Mil-Sim. There isn't a single way that anyone can try to justify that. Neither is an AEG.

True Mil-Sim Purists are not running with PolarStar or AEGS. It's just that simple.

Yes OOTB GBBR's may not be reliable, but since RA-TECH and a few other manufactures came out, They've become more reliable.

Call it for what is. GBB's change how you play, and well how you do everything in airsoft.

Im not sure if you know this but people can use "real" cap mags in AEGs and P*s too. Or maybe just put 34 BBs in a midcap if they want realism.

I am aware but first 34 rounds isn't real second AEGs still are non blowback with horrible electric sound. Second polarstars have lines through the grip with a tank on your back.

Just loading up a gun with real caps doesn't make it mil sim. You still need the sound, feel and recoil of a gbb.

34 rounds because AEGs dont fire the last 3 to 4 rounds in a magazine. Second of all if you think a GBBR sounds like a real steel weapon you may want check your hearing. You are forgetting a GBBRs biggest flaw, it has to be relatively warm out to use it. And if you are playing anywhere with a winter or below 50 degrees fahrenheit, you may only be able to use it during half the year.
