Krytac shells will work the best..... from there it's hit-and-miss with everything nowadays.
The reason I am not sticking with a Krytac Gearbox shell is they have a weird bump around the bushing hole that prohibits replacing the auto-shim gear with other gears.Krytac shells will work the best..... from there it's hit-and-miss with everything nowadays.
Krytacs have no auto-shim gears. That's VFC. The spur gear does have a spring as a spacer, but it's too hard to act as an auto shim. The reason I am not sticking with a Krytac Gearbox shell is they have a weird bump around the bushing hole that prohibits replacing the auto-shim gear with other gears.
The spring is very stiff... but there weren't any other shims on it, so I don't know what else it would be doing there.Krytacs have no auto-shim gears. That's VFC. The spur gear does have a spring as a spacer, but it's too hard to act as an auto shim.
Or at least, my Krytac doesn't...
I personally don't like that spring as it was putting too much pressure on the bearing--I replaced mine with a hilariously thick stack of shims, but you may not have that many on hand. The spring is very stiff... but there weren't any other shims on it, so I don't know what else it would be doing there.
I had to do that on both sides, but I had to do it so much on one side that now the spur gear spindle presses against the selector gear. Causing an inconsistent shim. I think I might just get another gearbox. And restart. Live and learn. It would be better to get a mill bit and a drill press to remove the obstructing parts...
...been there done that, rinse and repeat many times....(snip)...And restart. Live and learn.
