HOW to make a magazine cut-off

Trying to get back into airsoft, took a 5 year break. Like the title says, I have an idea for an AEG AK build with functioning charging bolt, mag empty, magazine out function. Think KWA AKR ERG. The reason i didnt go that route is that:
i like the ak 74u platform, very compact. akr is proprietary. i like real wood and stamped steel. i like to tinker/fabricate stuff. use of my own EFC/MOSFET for trigger response, not so much ROF. So far i have preordered a CM045A* coming in next month. Gate Warfet1.1 EFC with control board. 3AH 20A lion battery cells. Magnetic reed switches and 6mm neodymium magnets for switch activators.

I plan to glue magnets to the magazine and follower, then glue the reed switches to the gun itself so it will disconnect the trigger when the mag is either out, or empty/low BB's. someone on youtube has a similar setup which i borrowed the idea from.

Im custom making a 16v L-ION 3ah battery pack with LG HG2 cells which the warfet1.1 should handle fine. My aim is for realistic gun manipulation and trigger response. the gate warfet 1.1 has a pretty cool precocking feature which should lower FPS in the long run (keeps spring compressed) and create a hair trigger without the fuss of a dsg build. scratch this- you dont need precocking with a 16v battery :p

*Some questions im hoping you guys can help me out with is the function of the bolt charging feature once a new magazine is inserted. Im not sure if I need a relay or if this can easily be done mechanically.

Ill keep this build updated with pictures when the gun itself comes in. If you see any things i overlooked please critique my ideas.

yes their line is pretty awesome. their v2.5 and v3 aegs have the cut off feature.

their magazines are super high quality and their feed all mags work with any V3 gearbox (not sure about their v2's). If you do the rubber hopup nub mod (check post #10) BB's never drop out of the magwell and feed everything (edit: leaves one round in hop up. full auto generates enough suction to fire it down the barrel o_O careful)

Ares motor and grip came in! Definitely improves the feel of an AK aeg. another step to a realistic AK

(dont worry about the screws, it came with shorter ones)

PS: I Still have to try out the new reed switch to make the bolt functional.

These pics show the microswitch and sled retro-fitting. used large gauge? copper wire to increase reach. Then sacrificed old copper contact with epoxy to block off trigger travel. only mod you cannot see yet is a shaved selector.

FINISHED!

soldered in the new (bi-polar magnetic latching reed) switch. it was hard sourcing something that specific but someone in india makes it!

Same exact area i tucked the regular reed switch. Then I drilled and epoxied a 6mm neo magnet to the bolt catch (see pic#2)

Other updates: cerakoted rivets and trigger sniper grey. removed stock for now.

Quick update story:

had some feeding issues with full auto on SHS 12:1 gearset and 16v 20a lipo. bought an SHS sector delayer:

chrono'd the gun and fps dropped >140 FPS! o_O (from 363>213 and HUGE fps variance!)

if i shot the gun upside down, the 2 bb's in the HU would shoot in the air. major air leak!

The sector delayer was on backwards! lol... so i flip it! now im chrono'ing 320FPS! still large variance. wtf

put tissue paper near the HU and there is still an air leak (smaller)... tore the GB apart and check the motions. here's the fix, grind this part down:

Now im Chrono'ing 386 with - +1fps inconsistency! m100 spring to boot. i cant win. too hot, my goal was 350 with .2g bb's for this smg.

Another mod I did when the gun was apart is a HUTU (hop up tracer unit). drill 2 holes in HU (top and side), buy dirt cheap 3mm UV led's and shorten them. wire to 9v Battery = WIN!

i have to run the 9v battery externally because they dont fit in the handguard with my 4S lipo. I could solder a 11.1v pack which will give me room for a 9v in the front.

i might throw up a video of the tracers soon!

gtfo thats crazy! Check my signature, i just picked up a jg bar10. pure virgin untouched. chronoing at 373fps lol.. never had a sniper before so this is an interesting build.

Im also going to remote propane tap my G&P m4 with a high-cap magzine-frankenstien'd on my prowin green gas magazine. 3D print a 'surefire' type reservoir. much better looking imo than whats now available on EVIKE.

I also designed a HERA front grip for the AK74U front end too.

yeah dude. looks like mlok dimensions are pretty straight forward to cut out. i'll throw up a sketch in a few days

heres the model with mlok slots. the center pillars arent exactly 8mm, the the thickness needs tuning but you get the idea

I finally got around to printing the hera Spacship front guard. fit perfectly first try LOL! i want to paint on a "wood" look to keep things less spaceship-y

It could look really good if you do a wood color strait on it and let the ridges of the print wear through with use.

it wont :( the stock handguard actually had more room to fit anything.

BUT you make a good point. I can easily take the dimensions of the 9v and subtract it from the grip (hopefully maintaining some rigidity/looks)

back to the drawing board!
