Whelp, I'm kind of at a loss. I'm getting back into airsoft after 4 years, and I was digging through my old gear and found a working L96 spring rifle. Only problem is I have no idea what brand it is and if it's worth keeping if I want to shove some upgrades in it to make it a real DMR. I can't find any trademarks on it.

Here's the facts I have on it:
I think it was bought in 07 around the 120 dollar range.

It was available in a Tan and OD green color (mine is tan)

    It is not folding stock.

It did not come with an RIS bipod attachment, but one can be added on it.

The mag loads further towards the tip of the barrel than the real steel.
It came with three plastic mags that resemble this (http://www.airsoftmegastore.com/217...ion-Sniper-Rifle-Spare-Magazine-Metallic.aspx) but they are plastic.

The bolt is the kind with the spherical end like pictured here (http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Warrior-V3-MB-01-L96-Sniper-Rifle-Tan-Airsoft-Gun_340_3TV00.jpg)

It looks about identical to the pictured TSD model (http://www.bestbargaincloseouts.net/productimages/SD96TN_2.jpg) but the screws that hold the body together are black and the orange tip is merely painted on.

I unfortunately don't remember which site I ordered it from either.

If anyone could identify the brand that'd be awesome. If not, do you guys think it'd be worth my while to pour some upgrades into it?

Here (http://imgur.com/a/P2tkZ) is an album with some pictures of the gun.

I know for sure based on that magazine it is not an agm. Maybe a UTG?

I'm pretty sure it's a UTG. My friends UTG came with a magazine that looked just like that.

I'm not a sniper rifle kind of gun but I'm pretty sure not L96s are cones and can be upgrade because they use the same parts. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, and no... If its a true Maruzen Clone then yes... otherwise maybe, but more than likely no. So if its a clone then hes good, and it probably is.

If I take it apart will it be easier to verify how upgradeable it is?

Ok I wasn't exactly sure because I'm not really familiar with most spring sniper rifles.

yea it all depends on who made it(which is what we dont know in this case). a lot of Type 96's are clones, but some arent, and some arent "true" clones(upgrades need modifying/only some work)

That gun should be a clone of the Maruzen L96, if not the Maruzen itself. Most likely, it is a UTG or Well L96, which is compatible with Maruzen APS2 parts.
