I want to purchase a KJW hi capa, but am having trouble deciding between the KP05 and KP06 variants. The KP05 is a more traditional TM-clone style hi capa, while the KP06 is a larger, 6 inch, flashier model. As far as I can tell, both have identical internals, as both use the KJW red valve, and are CO2 and Green Gas compatible. Both are almost full metal, and have adjustable hopups. Both take WE and TM mags, and both have almost 100% compatibility with TM parts.

The KP05 has the advantages of a lighter, more compact 5.1 inch design. It also has $40 Tanio Koba tactical grips which are very nice. The smaller size means it's lighter, and the smaller slide means more gas efficiency (which isn't really an issue as I run propane with silicone which is dirt cheap). It will also fit a wider range of hard-shell holsters. Probably the biggest benefit is it's traditional design, meaning more parts compatibility (although not by much).

The KP06 has a 6 inch barrel, meaning (slightly) better accuracy and range. It also has an extended slide release (good cause I have small hands), a flared magwell, and some really nice fiber optic sights, as opposed to the white dot sights on the KP05. The larger slide will translate to increased recoil, but may be negated by the heavier weight. The unique, flashier KP06 may also be easier to sell or trade if I ever need to. Some downsides are increased gas consumption, heavier weight, lack of holsters (I run my pistols in a pouch anyway, and plan to use this as a primary for CQB) and slightly fewer aftermarket parts.

So, which one do you think I should get?

Tanio Koba grips are a big gimmic lol I have two KP-05's and highly recommend them. My first one was bought in spring of 2015 still works great my second one was just bought over the summer of 2017, few minor problems over the years. I have upgraded it with a new UAC BBU, nine ball / uac gasket seals, few other minor things. Here is my thread I am starting a log of the problems and fitment compatibility I am doing for upgrades. https://www.airsoftsociety.com/thre...-05-kp-08-ultimate-guide.146923/#post-1710778

Not much info out there for the kp06, I highly recommend the kp05 for airsoft, it looks like a 1911 but its not, the kp06 is more like a we glock T model that has the fancy works. I got the KP05 over the KP07 (single stack) because gas is better in the hi capa and they are great to upgrade with tons of parts on the market, I think they are the most upgrade able gun on the market if I am not mistaken..

The KP06 is a really good pistol for use as a primary weapon. The extended slide release is really great (I have small hands too) and the fiber optic sights work really well. Recoil isnt any more than a normal hi-capa, even with the larger slide. Accuracy is pretty top notch, I play at Gamepod Combat Zone in NorCal and I feel comfortable enough to take rifle range shots with it. Gas consumption is also average, green gas fills last me ~2 mags (on a warm day), while one 12 gram lasts me about the same. Downsides are that the gun has a different disassembly process vs other hi-capas, the guide rod has to be unscrewed before the gun can be disassembled (videos available online), we-tech and AW magazines sometimes don't hold back on the last round, and that the orange tip is spray painted on to the chrome barrel, so there isn't any way to remove it. I really love my KP06, it's my go to gun for pistol only play. If you are looking for a sidearm, I would recommend something not as big and cumbersome. I have mine short stroked and I had the male threads on the guide rods cut down for ease of disassembly. I have at least 10,000 shots out of it and nothing has broken yet. If you need anything clarified or any questions answered, feel free to shoot me a convo or leave a reply so you can make a really informed decision.

I would recommend the co2 mags for either of the guns, the consistency is worth the very slight cost upgrade.

How many shots can you get on Kp-05 with one fill?
Depends on the weather, last week only got 25-30 on a CO2 might be because my new parts were not 100% right at first. I need to test it again.... I have gotten two magazines before off but it was in warmer weather like 60+ When its 50 or lower you can get maybe 10 - 20 off depending..

I have the 06 hi capa, I actually owned 3 but sold 2, I use the co2 mags I get about 11/2 mags worth after that the fps drops, but it is accurate and loud, which in cqb tends to scare people so even if you don't hit them they certainly duck or move back. I use it as my secondary in the winter in nj outdoor and in cqb indoor as a primary or secondary to my MK 23 TM, I use a gcode sti 6inch holster and after I used a hairdryer to warm the kydex and widened it the fit was spot on. The extended slide release is only pot metal and tend to break easily. It's a great Pistol and when I had an issue with the barrel falling out of the hop up, I contacted kjw and they explained that the newer batch had a improved system and sent me the newer parts

so the weight isnt an issue? and hows the cyclic rate and gas efficiency?

Well, its a pistol so it will fire as fast as you pull the trigger, however you will get the cool down effect which will drop the fps, I tend to use my as a sniper pistol and can hit hand sized targets at 50 ft which does tend to annoy the HPA cqb people, usually i will take 2/3 shots then move and shoot again

sorry for the misunderstanding, but I heard that the heavy slide takes longer than average to cycle a round and go back into battery, meaning a slower semi-auto rate of fire. Since you didn't seem to notice any noticeable effect like this, I will assume that it isnt an issue. Thanks for all the help!
