I have a chance to buy this gun should i
Which KWA M4 is it? Honestly, I say stay away. KWA is god-awful in my opinion. Lol. (They're not really that bad, I just don't like them). They are very overpriced for what you get from them. Some flaws are as follows: a meh quality finish, stock externals are off-spec making other parts difficult to install without some modifications, the 2GX hop up yields no better results than a flat hop, the 2GX gearbox has fitment issues of some aftermarket parts without modification making upgrading difficult without replacing the gearbox shell, the stock motor is meh, and it is not able to withstand a high discharge lipo battery like their advertising claims. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. We (I) are happy to help you make a wise decision on your next airsoft purchase. By the way, if you're in the market for a new gun, get a Lonex M4. They're definitely the best OOTB AEG on the market as of now.
If you're asking this question, my answer would be yes, get it. And don't use a lipo.
Ok why not .. What will happen
You can use a lipo actually and it works great!
Here's a better idea. Don't waste your money on it. There's better guns for cheaper. Seriously. It's a bad idea to use certain lipos on a KWA. They'll burn out the crappy motors or ruin the gearbox completely because of the crappy stock tuning.
But with the right lipo it's great. And KWA's aren't bad.
So, I can buy a JG and make it perform better by just tuning it (not adding any new parts at all) for like $200 less than a KM4. I can make it perform better than a CQR as well for $30 less. Your argument is invalid.
That doesn't make KWA bad though and with tuning the JG your not just out performing KWA.
But even with labor, it's cheaper than a KWA. Isn't that a bit pathetic?
Archer, you just put the thread on your back.
I agree on how over priced the guns are though. But that doesn't make them bad guns.
So, for how much you are getting them for, you get:
1)Not ported solid metal piston head (can cause a vacuum effect in the cylinder)
2)A proprietary gearbox shell which is easily cracked
3)A weak piston (Luckily not proprietary)
4)Meh stock shimming
5)A weak motor
6)A Nozzle that is proprietary
7)The 2GX Hop system that is beat by a simple flat hop
8)Some off-spec externals that require mods to replace
9)Meh paint finish
10)"Lipo-Ready" crap. LOL. It can barely take an 11.1v 15C Lipo without dying
@sdsport -- What I mean is that it's pathetic that a gun that is that expensive won't perform that great to a gun that is cheaper. The Lonex AEGs out perform them without even touching either of their internals. The Lonex's finish is better too.
Gearbox Painted inside and out
Spring guide tabs
9mm bearings (frequently reported to fail)
Trigger trolley stop (too thick blocks use of some gear sets)
Trigger contact/trolley failure due to load
Electrical (selector plate) safety
Trigger axle to trolley height off spec (replacement trigger units won't work)
Cylinder head retention nubs over-sized
Gearbox "reinforcement" material over allowable width
Flexing upper/tab failure/piston forward requirement to open
Full floating barrel (both ends) reduces accuracy/not GB justified
Hop chamber off spec (other bucking incompatible)
Aluminum flat faced piston head
Insufficient cylinder head buffer
AOE adjustment absent
Unported piston head
plastic hop unit (two piece proprietary)
Tamaya connectors (multiple in some models)
Grip connects to gearbox with only two screws
Self tapping screws
No bearings on spring guide and piston head (washers adding mass to the piston assembly)
Springs not ground flat
Lack of piston tooth reinforcement
Gear axle center distances off-spec (there is a difference between fitting and on-spec)
unshimmed from factory (new "self shimming" features)
From Hunterseeker5 on Airsoft Mechanics.
Now, for the Lonex M4:
Corrected AOE out of the box
Decent shimming out of the box
Fully TM Compatible (as far as I know)
I was just going to bring that list to here. Darn you, Axis. Let's add to the Lonex M4's epicness.
No electrical safety
Working Bolt Catch
Near Perfect Air Seal (4-6 FPS deviation on the ones I have seen)
Clandestine Model has a Neo Magnet Motor (lonex A1)
Stock Piston is glass-filled nylon with 4 metal teeth
Stock gears are strong
Nozzle is POM air seal (IIRC. Someone want to confirm?)
Very nice external finish
Metal Hop Chamber
Very Price Effective
Really Accurate out of the box
MILSPEC Buffer Tube
Metal Spring Guide
Lonex's awesome gearbox shell
Very solid internal workings
A few cons:
Other versions have their Ferrous motors (Clandestine has the A1s, so only buy from him)
IIRC you can make it to where it's not self-shimming.
Yeah, I did that to my VFC gears.
