I feel that I have come to the point in my airsoft/milsim career where I think it would be useful for me to invest in some type of Night vision. And after noticing a lack of a thread pertaining to this topic Ive decided to make this one.

This thread for for the topic of NODs from General Info on them to advice on good set ups and places to find them.

Now to kick this thread off Ive recently started thinking about picking up a cheap Gen 1+ NVG monocular but Ive decided against it. Now that I have a reliable sorce of income Ive decided I'd like to possiblely buy a nice NVG in the $2000 range. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to look and what type to get for that price?

Heh. Out of the kingdom of lurking I come. Honestly, a PVS14 is a good start. You can find them in the Facebook NODs groups for reasonable prices too. I've seen them for for around and sub2000 range before. If you really want to be swag, you could try and grab some ANVIS9s. It'll be a bit mode pricey though.

This is an excellent, though old guide: http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/index.php?topic=88954.0

PVS-14s are always a great choice.

ANVIS-6 and 9s are actually identical except for one mechanism which was optimized for use with pilots.

Here are some good sites to visit:

https://www.modarmory.com/
http://nightlongind.com/
http://www.thekitfob.com/

Here is some excellent up to date info:

Cool Guy Gear Nods... etc. is a great FB group for airsofters interested in high end equipment. This same FB group is frequented by real military operators.

WARNING: The admins on the CGG FB group are extremely strict and will unhesitatingly ban you for breaking the rules. READ THE RULES OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.

I think that we should change the abbreviation (and pronunciation) to NAWDs instead of NODs.

I got your back, Mikey.

I was looking around and found this Set. http://nightlongind.com/pvs-14-blem-autogated-complete-kit/

It looks to have just about everything Id need other than some Lens Shields and a MS2000 (not really needed). Am I missing anything or at least anything else I could use to be helpful?
Did you see that they are blemished tubes? You can find perfect tubes around that price if you look hard enough. I got a clean pvs-14 for $1800 once, so don't let yourself spend more money than you need to. Also, you may want to look into amber filters so that there is no green backwash on your face which could give away your location.

On another note, I may be getting some Lucie NVG's soon. :D

Is there any reason you don't like dual tubes? Your depth perception and peripheral vision is so much better with dual tubes.

It isn't that I don't like dual tubes, it's that I want the added modularity of the MOD-3 system. That way, I get to run both dual tubes and weapon-mounted devices.

Although my kit is primarily based on a direct action role, I'm also my team's marksman and sniper. Using dual tubes while trying to aim down a 3-9x scope would be a nightmare as compared to a 553.A65. The MOD-3 allows me to attach my PVS-14 to my scoped rifles.

I was aware but right now that I don't have the cash in hand as of yet I am aiming at that price point. If I find a nice PVS-14 cheaper by the time I have the money I will jump on it.

Good budget NODs, prefer monocular, will see minimal use so price is a huge concern, have an offer on a Gen1 mono for $150, don't know whether to take that deal or look around, any help is appreciated
