Hey,

I recently started playing airsoft. After my first game my girlfriend wanted to try it as well so I bought a second AEG.
Now I am thinking about some upgrades for either or both of the guns.

I have a Tokyo Marui MP5 RAS with 8.4V 1500 MaH battery (which my girlfriend claimed because it is the lighter gun)
And a AGM M4 RIS with a 9.6V 1600 MaH battery.
Both are stock guns with no internal mods yet.

I think the MP5 would benefit from upgrades the most at the moment since it has a shorter barrel and lower FPS (around 280 using 0.20 BB's).
My girlfriend doesn't want the gun getting too heavy however.

Would upgrading just the gearbox (bushings, spring, spring guide) help out much? Or would it be best to add a silencer and a longer barrel anyway?
I think she is getting outranged a lot at the moment.

The M4 already has higher FPS (around 350 using 0.25 BB's)
And better range because of the longer barrel. I plan on adding a silencer and a tightbore. But should I also upgrade anything about the gearbox?

I also have a Socom Gear 1911 as a sidearm but I don't think this needs any upgrades at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

You can upgrade the FPS plenty without upgrading the gearbox. I'd go for a tightbore like you said. Hopup bucking should increase the range as well. A silencer would be a nice addition as well.

No you can't! FPS is one of the things that needs the MOST stuff changed. You can change motor, gears, wiring, piston, piston head, hop, barrel, spring guide, cylinder etc with no changes elsewhere but FPS is like a whole different story.

A new hop rubber, tight bore barrel etc.

Maybe get a M100 spring, (M100 is 328fps w/ .2g BBs) but no higher without other changes.

-MP5-

TM gears can handle a M120 spring, at the most (and that's kinda pushing it)! A M110 spring would be best do to other parts in the gearbox. But in order to use a M120 or a M110 spring, you will need to replace the nylon bushings to metal bushings, and the cheap spring guide to a metal spring guide with a bearing. You will also need to check and see if the motor is a EG700 motor or a EG1000 motor, reason being: A EG700 motor can't sustain a M110 spring for very long. But a EG1000 motor will. If your motor is a EG700 you will want to replace it with maybe a G&P M120 Motor. Also, a good quality shim job is a must.

As for the barrel, it would be worth it to extend the inner barrel threw a sound suppressor. A new bucking with a H nub would give you better accuracy and consistency.

So here's the list (and links):

Metal Bushings
Metal Spring Guide with Bearings
M110 Spring
G&P M120 Motor
Quality Shim Job
Tight Bore Barrel (length depends on the size of the suppressor)
Bucking with H nub

If you wanted you could add a MOSFET for the trigger system, it's not required, but recommended.

~Cheers

i would leave the TM alone except for a new tbb, hopup, and bucking. and if you want put a higher spring. m110 at the most.

the AGM would be the one that would so some work to. the internals arent the best so that is recommended to be changed(new gears, polycarb piston, etc).

I was planning to put in a M100 spring, metal bushings and a metal bearing spring guide for the MP5.
Would the silencer and longer barrel combined add a lot to the weight though?
Like i mentioned before my girlfriend is concerned about the weight of the gun. She thinks the M4 is too heavy (4 kilo's without mag) and likes the current weight of the MP5 (2.3 kilo's without mag).

Besides gears, piston and bushings are there any other parts that you guys would recommend replacing in the M4?

Would only add length, wieght would barely be noticeable. Silencers are very light, just an aluminium tube.
