I've recently aquired an E1 m249, Para short barrel, and full stock. It has a CA rail system on the front, and no bipod. If I were to do an Impression of some group that were to use the Mk46, how can I distinguish? What are the main differences between the Mk46 and M249? Can I use the 249 in its format right now and use it for a Mk46 impression?

The MK46 has the carrying handle removed, and has a RIS handguard.

Depending on what kind of impression you need it for?

The MK 46 is belt fed only (no M4/16 magazine feed capability), this was done in an effort to make it lighter, as well as the barrel being fluted and the addition of an upper and lower foward RAS.
The biggest difference b/t the RS MK 46 and 249 is the lack of a magazine feed and it's telling to anyone that knows it. The only companies that make an accurate MK46 to my knowledge are Star and G&P.

I was just thinking of maybe Rangers, or some sort of 07-10 unit that won't break the bank and won't make me get a new rifle.
