I'm looking to make my own MOSFET, I've got the resistors and the wire, I just , CAN NOT for the life of me find the transistor and diode,

I've read that I need a irlb3034 MOSFET, and an 18v diode, is this true and also can I substitute any of those parts for another?

    Have you looked here?

    http://www.digikey.com

As for what's compatible or substitutable, I'd go over to Airsoft Mechanics. They have a lot of DIY mosfet threads

It's really not hard to find.. There are a ton of places to get MOSFETs. Stick with the 3034.
Here is one diagram I made for my MOSFETs for v2 front.

The smaller red wire is the 22awg and the larger red and black is 16awg (obviously...)

Edit: note that I didn't put where the 22k and 100 ohm resistors are in the diagram. Tried to keep it as simple as possible.

How about a 24v 1500w diode, with that work?

There are literally hundreds of TVS diodes to choose from at Digikey, finding the recommended one is not hard at all.

Yes, that should be able to handle the current.
