So I got this M4 from a trade years ago. Now I want to get into playing. I want to see if anyone out there knows what brand this gun is? Is it a decent gun or should I spend some money on a better more reliable brand? Thanks to anyone who answers!

I have seen that same mark on multiple different brand m4s. I noticed that same marking on a couple Knights Armament m4s and some aftermarket receivers as well.

As crazy as this sounds, can you take the upper receiver off or, if you have the experience/ability, take the gearbox out?
A G&G gun can be identified by the gearbox, SRC can, and a few others. If you can only take the upper receiver off (just requires the front body pin to be removed, then it slides off going forward), take some pictures of the gearbox and post them here.
I saw the "C, A," and thought classic army like someone else, but I'm not too sure.

Just a note, not all M4 receivers slide forward, and those that don't require both pins be removed. However, remove the back pin first and rotate the upper receiver. Then remove the front pin and the upper completely.

I do believe those marks are Real Steel manufacture markings, but I am not 100% sure on that. If so, then they wont tell you anything about the Airsoft manufacture.

Not really, SRC uses a generic motor shell, all chrome and no markings. In fact, many manufacturers do this. JG uses their own motors, but under their Golden Eagle brand. Classic Army uses their own. However, I have found a variety of motors in various guns that give no clue to the manufacturer.
