Meh kinda an odd question right? Well anyways lets start off. I'm 5'9 and wight 180. That's about 20lbs over the average weight of a 16 yr old. I've lifted about 10 times in my life, mostly due to the fact that I don't have time or a location to lift. Over the summer I did not exercise much. I've ran a couple of times this past week, but that's really it other than going to the gym those 10 times. I'd go when we were away at a hotel ect. Well it's jr year for me and I don't want to be over weight anymore. I plan to go to the school gym about 2-3 times in a week. I swim competitively as well but I find myself eating more good than normal after practices. How can I make my self full without eating as much? And how can I get into the cycle of working out too? Odd question but I know you guys can help.

Edit: an how this relates to airsoft? I would be able to play for longer an be more effective and have more fun. Also, if I do join the marines, it would help ALOT to be in shape before. Links, videos, whatever is fine.

Just thought I’d post on here to help me keep my goal. I’ve been walking up and down 40 flights of stairs each morning. Just trying to improve my cardio and strengthen my legs a bit. I don’t know about you guys but halfway through a day of airsoft my thighs start to burn and I get a lot less tactical haha.

My problem is that I only do strength training, with zero cardio (too boring). So airsoft is my only "cardio". I basically never run in airsoft, but rather slowly meander my way over to cover.

I'll typically see a bunch of new ish players running around crouched the entire time, or just standing there crouched behind bushes and I'm just moseying on with my M249 out in the open. I get a lot of looks typically

Yeah, it's my favorite joke now. "One at a time please" isn't just a joke anymore lol. I thought about Keto but I love my carbs. With weight watchers I can eat whatever I want, in moderation. I will miss cheese though, high in points.

Also, holy crap you're alive!
It's hard man. Carbs are everywhere! My girl challenged me to go a week without carbs. I thought I was doing good until someone told me rice was a carb.
Look for carb alternatives - cauliflower rice, quinoa, and so on. Right now the only carb I'm eating is pasta.

This forum has always been a great place. I consider it home and always will. Sometimes I like to I pop in every so often and look around.
When I see a good friend who needs a bit of support or receive a PM I become a little vocal ;)

Yeah I've been meaning to look into cauliflower rice. I love fried rice so I'm hoping I can make something similar with that that's low points.
I'll be honest, the texture is a bit fluffier but clumpier than regular rice. But taste wise, it's not too different. But even then, if you're making a stir fry, the cauliflower will take on the flavors of everything else in the pan.
Grab a bag of prepared cauliflower rice, fry it in a bit of coconut oil, then toss in your veggies and meat. You'd be surprised.

Like what Buster said, this forum is a great place. I used to be on some other airsoft forums back 8-10 years ago, but AirsoftSociety has stood out to me based on the community, quality admins/moderators, and overall helpfulness of the active members. Outside of the couple of years that I was completely out of this hobby, I have always come back to only this forum based on the reasons previously stated. The growth of social media platforms with airsoft ties has worried me about the longevity of this forum. However, I'm certain that the quality of this forum has actually increased, especially over the last year to two years with an expansion of respectful and helpful new members. With that said, theonlyBuster, good to see you back!

Started weight watchers 2 weeks ago. Down 2.8 pounds from where I started. Figured it was time to do something when I stepped on my scale and it said "Error".
Good luck Lil_Shady! I'm not sure how Weight Watchers works, but it was helpful to me when I lost weight a few years ago to keep track of my blood pressure every couple of weeks. Lowering blood pressure was a big reason for me to lose weight, and it was good to see another method of progress being made besides the scale.

carbs aren't bad unless you're really trying to drop weight. Even then..carbs are fuel. Track your macros...you'd be surprised at how flexible your meals can be while still allowing you to lose fat/weight. I'm doing a "long term" bulk right now and am currently sitting at 196ish lbs (trying to get to 205) and sustaining a (probably) 13% b/f level. Abs are visible but not crazy defined, still very vascular, but definitely putting on size. Once I hit 205 i'll cut to probably 8-10% then try and get to 205 at that b/f range.

The reason I am saying this is because for my goals, weight gaining while still maintaining "lower" b/f levels, my macros are ~3200 cals, 235g protein, 392g carbs, and 70g fat, daily.

what's this mean? carbs aren't all bad. There isn't really a bad "food", but there is a bad diet. If you want to eat pasta, go for it...just make the rest of your meals/snacks work around your goal to meet your final numbers. It takes planning, but you don't have to settle for eating bland boring food...you just need to know what foods to prioritize and how much of what you really need to hit your goals.

anyways...keep grinding people!

Pasta though, is just a massive dose of carbs.

I'm also trying to keep carbs fairly low, but nowhere near Ketogenic levels. I'll still eat rice and chips.
The thread is alive again! It's been a few months since I did any deadlifting. I felt pretty good doing 315 so I figured 405 would be no problem. It took me a couple attempts but I got it pretty cleanly.
I did keto for 2 months or so. Unfortunately I have fay malabsorption issues so it kept me tired as hell the whole time I was on it. For people who can do it, it's an AMAZING life style choice.
Figured I'd update. Down 7.8 pounds since I started, on changing my diet alone. Started working out this past week, mostly weights so my skin doesn't get too saggy while I lose the weight (don't want my tattoos to warp). Screw leg day.

So for my upcoming fight need to get down from 180 to 165. If I wanted to I could just float at 180 and then cut the 15 pounds, but I wanna see if I can diet down because eventually I'd might make the move to 145. So my diet for my last fight was strictish. Since I usually walk around 175-180 I don't need to cut to get to 170. I time when I eat. 10:15, 12:15, 2:15, 4:15, and last meal at 6:15. And I usually don't eat carbs anymore after 2. Right now my caloric intake is about 1200(usually 2800 to maintain) and then week of weigh ins I cut that down to 600 calories a day. I'm not sure thought if I wanna go this route with my next so I've been starting to go to 1000 calories a day.
jesus...1000cal/day....that's one meal for me lol

Welp. This thread is like leg days.

I did a 20-mile hike with my younger sister in the northern Cascades in Washington. Sprained an ankle and that caused a flare-up of a minor injury ive had in my left knee.
It's been ~4 weeks since it happened and it feels 80% now, just starting some PT to make sure I don't get stuck with issues.

Hopped back on my cutting after a lot of traveling threw off my diet over the summer. Down 8lbs (196-188) after 2 weeks and week 3 hit a plateau. Gunna hold my meal comp the same for another week to see if I drop another 1-2lbs.
Running a heavy protein and fat diet at 1600cals/day. So far i'm liking it better than my previous low-fat diet. A lot more consistent energy throughout the day without crashes.

I'm hoping to get to 180lbs by Thanksgiving.
I feel you Raven in that I put on some weight, except my fat *** isn't going on a cut. I was hovering around 185 because I was playing basketball more frequently. I had a minor injury though which kept me off the court. I started to fill out without all that cardio. I'm in that 195-196 territory now and don't have plans of stopping haha.
I'm getting constant remarks from my parents and parents of friends that "I'm being to hard on myself" for dropping 8lbs in 2 weeks. They don't get that I am fat by US medical standards (currently ~19%), and that I was obese by US medical standards (32%) during "the prime of your life" at 18. Yeah. Real good support.

I'm not going psycho-insane levels of cutting like I did last time I tried breaking the 175lb mark (just look up Aspirin, Caffeine, Ephedra thermogenic stack), but I'm going with the cut until I get under 180lbs.

I hate it when people say things like that or "eatting so little isn't healthy" or "you're fine just the way you are". Drives me up the wall. Keep up the awesome work! Always inspiring to see someone else working their butt off, literally.

I'm glad this thread is still alive! I recently (about two months ago) switched up my workout routine from bro-splits to a full body every other day (Mon, Weds, Fri, Sun, Tues, Thurs, Sat, rinse/repeat). I am definitely getting stronger quicker than I was with bro-splits.

At least from my short time doing it, there is definitely something to be said for natty body builders doing higher frequency on each muscle group. The way I have my plan set up is my overall weekly volume is slightly lower than what I did with bro-splits, but the frequency is much higher. I'm definitely noticing a difference...if you are hitting a plateau, or want something different, I would definitely recommend it. The old thought that full-body workouts are only for beginners has done a 180...at least if you're natty.

Yep, especially when they talk about how early-20's is the "prime of your life" and I'm sitting here without any abdominal definition while constantly seeing dudes in their 50's in every movie/tv show/magazine with a far healthier body.

From all that I have read online, seen and absorbed from the guys at the gym the biggest part is the 'system shock' of changing up workout routines every 6-8 months.

I changed up my routines to a layout my PT gave me last year. It's been interesting running it for the last month because all the lifts focus on 3 sets of 6-8 reps, but I burn through the day's lifts far faster than I'm used to (60-70 minutes vs. 90-120). I think I'm going to start incorporating another group (currently doing 2 muscle groups a day) or just making them 5 sets for each exercise. I have done waaaayyyy to many marathon lifts (chest day for 3 hours with no more than 2 minutes rest between sets) so any day I'm in the gym less than 90 minutes feels short.
