It couldn't work, since there is no definite way to watch for hits.

There is, but it would it would be limited hot areas. You could use the pressure pads used for scoring in fencing, or something similar, to automatically record a hit.

Well you can just play paintball... People would make up lame excuses as to why the sensor went off.

This topic comes up every 2 years.

in addition to the above comments, Airsoft is not mainstream enough to be even considered. Most people don't even know what Airsoft is...

Airsoft is getting more popular though.
As the years have gone by, it has become cheaper and more easy to find official fields.
IMO, it won't be much longer until we're mainstream.

To the extent of my knowledge they tried it with paintball one year. The problem is that it is based off an honor system, which a lot of people abuse. People literally saw the Olympians cheating on international telovision.

Why do you want airsoft in the olympics. I personally think it would be bad for the airsoft community

I know it isn't airsoft, but does anybody else realize that air shooting is an Olympic sport?

Yes and no paintball was never used as an Olympic sport and it would be good for the airsoft communitie because it would bring more players

Lets make Starcraft 2 an olympic sport.

Airsoft in it's current state will never work as a competitive sport. No one should have to explain why, it's pretty obvious.

More players isn't better. The only reason you see us saying more players is a good thing is because they find out about it on their own and enjoy it. But if It got publicity and people played because they found out it was an Olympic
Sport they would change the game completely. More people is better as long as it isn't to rapid of a growth. Then airsoft would be changed by the overwhelming amount of new players at one time.

This, people could clearly see competitors wiping paint off. It gave paintball a bad rep, so they said "never again". You want that to happen to airsoft?

What about Javelin throw? That's a weapon.

Encourages is the wrong word for what it actually is representing. It only seems as if it enourages war to people that don't understand or play it.
