    Hay y'all,
I have a G&G CM16, I know it was a bad decision but it was 2 years ago.

How much work needs to be done to it to get it accurate at 300-360ft without passing 550 fps?

It only has had external upgrades and a new madbull barrel. (And corrected AOE and shimming)

I am getting a new AEG for normal engagements so, I want something to not let that gun go to waste.

Would it be cheaper to buy a new m14 and upgrade it?

    Budget: $200-250

very true, very true, but ive heard that m14 parts are better if your making a dmr. But it doesnt really matter because he could choose either and get amazing range in the end.

There are more parts for the M4, the M4 is easier to work on and you already own a M4. Spend the money on upgrades. And you really don't need 500+ FPS for ~300 ft range. And the CM's were better before.

You said you have adjusted AoE and shimmed the M4, have you checked the compression and greased it? Also change the Tamiya connectors to Deans and get a Li-Po.

Start with the Hop Up. Get an R-Hop patch from HS5.

You can easily turn an M4/M16 into a DMR

Honestly what i think is whatever style of gun you like more. They can both be turned into dmr's, but which gun do you prefer. I went with the m14 style, but its your choice.

Im not totally sure if you have any local techs i would ask them. Or if you want a really high fps you might want a new motor, a spring, new spring guide, and some other things to go along.

    Haha, nice edit. :p

FPS is not what you should focus on in the first place. Since you "only" want 260-300 ft of range the R-Hop and perhaps a M120 spring should be almost all you need. If you're not comfortable with installing the patch yourself I believe HS5 can do it for you.

I think the G&G can pull the M120 spring. Not sure, though.

Madbull barrels are IMO "Tier 2" barrels, Prometheus being the "best". But if you keep it clean I think you'll do alright.

BTW, remember that the "." is on your keyboard for a reason. :)

yes your right but i thought fps was potenial for range, and with a higher fps the bb will reach your opponent faster with the range you were speaking of.

I could also use a Polar Star, set it to 200 PSI and fire a rock out of a toilet paper tube but hey, how accurate would that be?

Yes, you're right, FPS does matter for range, especially if you're using heavier BB's but DMR stands for Distinguished Marksman Rifle and that "Marksman" in there means it's accurate. You don't get accuracy with a rock.

    @Computerman: What you need is:

    Deans, MosFet, Li-Po and charger.

    R-Hop patch.

    Heavy BB's. (.25, .28 or .30)

M120 + Lonex motor. (To be on the safe side.)

I think you'll be fine with stock gears, piston, cylinder and cylinder head but I'm not a tech.

Do you have a Carbine version? If so, you may want to consider a 455 mm long Prometheus 6.03 barrel, a type-1 cylinder and a suppressor to cover it up.

You really don't need that. But to answer your question, probably not.
