I already have the Maple Leaf bucking I key and barrel, which work very well, but I have noticed that Ra-tech makes other parts for the G series, including externals , and that they are made of steel. I was surprised to see they produce a steel slide and a steel barrel. Wouldn't steel be heavier than the pot metal used in the production gun? Maybe not. The old zinc slides are pretty heavy. I suppose it would depend on the thickness of the steel. How would the alloy rails in the frame cope with a steel slide running over them multiple times? What effect would a steel slide release or a steel barrel have on a soft alloy slide. And these steel parts are not cheap. Steel parts don't sound like a good idea to me unless everything is made of steel. Am I wrong?
