I recently purchased a Airsoft G.I. G4-A1 with a Troy 11 inch free floating rail system. The outer barrel is currently 14.5 inches long, I want to bring it down to 10 inches and the bring down the size of the rail system. I am going to use my 10 inch mock silencer to hide the rest of the inner barrel. I want to know what size rail system I should use if I put a 10 inch outer barrel on it. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Dhow much of the suppressor do you want to show? If you want the whole thing to show then get a 10" or smaller RIS. If you want it to cover some of the suppressor then just try keeping the factory length RIS

I want the whole thing to show put I dont want so much excess barrel length showing. If I got a 10 inch RIS what length barrel should I get.

A 10.3" outer barrel, that sounds kind of short for a outer barrel.

There's always 7"...... It's not that short really.... It's the length of barrel on the US military's MK18s.

Oh, so if I got a 10 inch RIS then get a 10.3 inch outer barrel. What if I wanted to get a 12 inch RIS, the only reason I am changing the RIS is that it is not a full length rail system. What I mean by that is the rails that you attach things to dont run the whole length of the RIS they are only 20mm long each except for the top one. The left, right, and bottom rails are only 20mm long, but I want a rail system the runs the whole length of the RIS.

you can try this look, where the RIS covers part of the suppressor.

buy a 10 inch outer barrel, and a 4 inch mock suppressor to cover the carbine length inner. Then buy a nice 12 inch RIS, spikes tactical (the one in the pic) will work best, as it has a lot of space inside for the suppressor to fit.

    good luck!

It sounds to me that you want something that looks sort of like this:

That's a 10.5" barrel and a 9.5" Daniel Defense II RIS unit. It gives you a short barrel and a lot of rail space. Is that in the ballpark of what you're looking for?

You could also get something like this:

It's the same barrel length but instead of a free float rail, it uses the KAC 7" RIS that snaps into place like a set of handguards. It's usually cheaper than a free float, though in your case it sounds like you already have the free float and thus don't have the necessary front sight post and delta ring to lock it into place. If that's the case, then I'd suggest sticking with the free float design.

That's an mk18 mod0. Airsoft companies often call it a "CQBR," though often times other "CQBRs" come with a KAC free float rail instead. Really, it's just an AR with a 10" barrel and a 7" KAC RIS.

    KAC Free Float rail instead:
