As a purely nonmonetary view- which do you believe is stronger? I'm reserving my own opinion as: both to d*mn strong to ever fail, but still, I've never really had eaither of them break- what's stronger for you?

I'm going to say JG, because of the bad design of the SHS's.

Cool, SHSs are still tanks though, you must admit :p

That's one for JG, 0 for SHS. let's go people :D

I think JG ones are stronger but I would have to go with SHS because of the different ratios.

JG uses XYT gears, if I'm not mistaken. Regardless, I like JG's sets better. I've had better experiences with them.

    You should add a poll.

SHS 32:1 can pull m210, i don't know if a JG set can do that.

Jg gears are GE not xyt. I own both types.

Prime I own both JG and SHS gears. The metal that JGs use is stronger from what i can tell. SHS has a fail prone design on them too. Both are great though. Comparing helical 32:1's to standard ratio isn't fair though. My vote is JG purely because they can handle all reasonable springs with ease (m170 and lower) and the design is much better. Helicals are meh anyway

I know that many love JG stock sets, but I love both my sets of SHS gears.

What is this "failure prone design" you all speak of?

He is talking about how the Sector is a 2 piece held on by two small bolts. While it does suck that it is an iffy design, some simple loctite solves the issue. If you really want to be anal or do plan on pulling an m210, then you can replace the bolts with a stronger grade bolt.

But it takes 2 seconds to reinforce them so I prefer SHS.

Btw, 32:1 are flat cut, not helical.

I had a set of xyts that I busted.
A set of JGs that I busted.
A set of standard ratio SHS that I busted
And a set of 32:1 super shooters that I busted. (though if I would have epoxied the sector together, it probably wouldn't have happened.)

    So my vote is neither?...

JG's only come in one standard ratio... that limits your options.

SHS spur gear is also made badly. It came apart on me after 0 rounds.

Well it was designed to come apart. Hence why there are 2 bolts holding it together.

Now do you mean broke apart? If so did you reinforce them?

All this talk about XYT and GE gears... what's the difference? And why is one bad over the other?

JG doesn't actually make their own gears. They get them from a metal company by the name of GE today. A couple years ago they were made by the metal company xyt. Both gears are great for mild-high performing builds. I have both types of gears and haven't broken one. The GE's seem a bit more strong. Can't say for sure.

I got the xyt gears from a Dboy ak a couple years back

Shs for me, but that is because I like speed not torque.

You sir, just lost me $20... I bet my friend the first 5 people to definitively answer would say jg. He's getting jg gears anyways, he was gonna get SHS. I guess he could afford both now, huh :(
