Looking for some ideas for making stencils. Beens earching all over and there are ideas from cardstock to mylar sheets. Any one ever do this, and if so what did you use. I'm looking to put a logo on my stock as well as my mags.

Let me know. Oh and any pictures would be great. I searched the Painted guns forum with no luck.

Anything that is decently rigid should work well.

How'd it work out for you? My concern is overspray and when you are spraying M-4 mags the valleys

I have yet to test it, but it seems it will do fine.
You can always coat the back with a mild adhesive.

I don't know about layered stencils, but I just print out a piece of paper with the stencil on it, cut out the stencil, then cover it with a layer of painter's tape. Put the tape (and the paper) on the gun, cut out the tape over the stencil, peel off the part with the paper, and voila! You have an inverted stencil right on your gun. You can also do this with islands, because the tape is already sticking to the gun.

If you only need to use the stencil a few times all you should really need is some cereal box cardboard, a Sharpie (or writing utensil of choice.) And an Exacto Knife. Just draw and cut out your shape, then your all ready to paint. I've used this before for a Hammer and Sickle, and it came out pretty clean.
