    hello all,

first of all, i'm not entirely sure what category a parts question would fall into so i just put it here for now. feel free to correct me.

any-who, i was just patrolling the internet for interesting v2 gb shells and I happened upon this matrix "super shooter" gb shell. apparently its shs but i'm not too sure. it's also allegedly billet cnc'd aluminum but evike descriptions have been really inaccurate these days. like the title says 9mm bearings but the description says it includes 8mm bearings. lol

    https://www.evike.com/products/37390/

do any of y'all have experience with these, and if so, what are your thoughts on them?

That is indeed under the umbrella of shs.

Most techs have moved away from 9mm bearings and moved to higher quality 8mm bearings.

That is likely a lower quality alloy if it's really cnced. That one also isn't a quick change spring.
I don't know if that item will ever be in-stock again tho.

Also avoid retro arms/bloomies v2 shells. The split and the regular one has bushing/bearing hole placement issues. They are unfortunately flawed, even if they won't admit it themselves.

Did you crack a original shell?

my original gb shell of 3 years is starting to split on the front top corner of the window. it was never radiused and never had any work done on it. it's an ares-based (i believe? it has the funky manual safety behind the trigger on the left side of the gb) gb shell and is pretty darn basic. i'm looking into a good replacement shell, as from what i understand, ares doesn't play well with others when it comes to aftermarket parts.

what shells would you recommend? i'm looking for something that can handle low-mediumish stress (~350 at 30 rps). are lonex gb shells still good?

Evikes descriptions have never been consistently accurate. They just cut and paste marketing info and if it's wrong, from factory/distribution, it will be wrong on Evikes site too.

If you have an Ares Mechbox that means you have an Ares made AEG. The Lonex mechbox shell may not drop in without modifications.

got it. yeah, the receiver bit sounds about right... even now i've found compatibility to be a bit wonky.

gb shell-use wise, would there be any other shells you'd recommend that can compare to or are as good as the lonex?

thanks for all the info btw, it really helps

As for a China made shell...best you are going to get is an A&K/SHS shell.
