This was started in another thread and I thought it deserved its own thread. So, it goes like this. If you had to break down Airsoft manufacturers into four different tiers, which manufacturers go into which tier.

Tier 1: Best of the best. Great guns at a high price. No customs.

Tier 2: Red Headed Step Child. Guns in between Tiers 1 and 3. Intermediate cost and performance.

Tier 3: Budget guns and Overpriced guns. Either guns that are in the novice price range ($100-$175), or guns that only preform as well as the best competitors from the novice price range.

Tier 4: Unskirmishable. Crap. Do not buy.

Please only post about brands you own, have used, or have some sort of substantial evidence about.

I'm guessing these are all out of the box classifications?

the reason I ask is because with a little work and a few bucks on new bushings, shims, and a spring guide a JG can perform just as well as a tier 2. Plus the motors/gears are beastly.

Yessir, stock performance. While I agree about JG, it's simpler to just think of stock performance.

Tier 1: VFC, G&P, JG, ICS ProLine, CA, TM (I don't agree any stock gun has the qualifications for what you said though)
Tier 2: ICS sportline, KWA, G&G Proline, CYMA
Tier 3: Nothing I can think of. In my opinion, the only AEG worthy of being a buy under $250 is JG, maybe a CYMA- and both of those are beastly.
Tier 4: Everything not mentioned here. If 2 guns are exactly the same, but one is $10 more, then the other isn't even an option in my opinion. Why waste money? Sure, things like javelin and ares aren't total crap, but they cost more then other guns that have better internals and externals with maybe one small advantage that you can get for a small upgrade price- so why bother with them? (unless they make a unique gun of course)
