Hey guys, as you can probably tell I'm upgrading the internals on my G&P m4. So here's the parts list I have at the moment:

    SHS gears 16:1 (http://clandestineairsoft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6_30_11&products_id=29)

    -Lonex motor (http://clandestineairsoft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6_10&products_id=269)

    - new piston and piston head (http://clandestineairsoft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6_8&products_id=150)

    - Prometheus tight-bore 6.03 http://www.evike.com/product_info.p...24386&osCsid=4ef22896f58baae03c05dda1d6c48ed0

    - new spring and spring guide (http://clandestineairsoft.com/index...page=product_info&cPath=1_6_13&products_id=86)

I changed it so its good now. I'm going to buy a 7.4v Lipo and Lipo charger in the near future as well. Opinions? Please provide a new or better part if you say I shouldn't get one.

    Thanks!

SHS gears are a gamble these days, but the risk is probably smaller if you buy from Clandestine. A slightly more expensive, but safer alternative to the SHS 16:1 ratio gears is Lonex 16:1 ratio gears. I would expect low 20's with those gears, the A1 and a good 7,4v li-po. http://clandestineairsoft.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6_30_38&products_id=222
The Lonex POM piston head will be lighter than that supershooter alu head, and they are excellent piston heads, light, but very durable, and comes with an excellent o-ring.

To the extent of my knowledge SHS gears are pretty reliable. But that's very limited lol, can you please elaborate? Also, thanks I'm probably going to get that piston head instead.

If you are willing to spend $40 more, you can get a prommy 6.03 with an r-hop already installed off of clandestine. The patches are installed by, you know, only the guy that invented them.

I think I'll R-hop it myself, it's not worth that much extra money lol. I really want opinions on the spring guide I put in though :)

Well, I have had several SHS gear sets that had sector or spur gears that were severely unbalanced, I could clearly see significant wobble when spinning them...

depending on the way you spin a gear it will wobble most of the time, because it is allmost impossible for a person to spin something perfectly.
that being said. the shs spur gears do run eliptical sometime from the way that they manufacture them. the tolerences of fit between the upper and lower part of the gear isnt tight enough, so they do the lil punch thing that is on the back side of the gears and that throws the alignment off.
the lonex 16:1's (from clandistine) and the new core gears that i carry do not have this issue.

as far as the spring guide that you are looking at, it will suit your needs just fine. it is a quality unit.

My Lonex gears, my first set of SHS gears, the stock gears in my KS P90, and a set of JG gears from a JG AUG all spin with no wobble at all. I don't mean sideways movement, wobbling, like an old bent bike wheel, to give an example. They would wobble even when tightly shimmed, ergo the shafts were bent. This was very noticeable when I attempted to shim the gears, impossible to achieve good shimming. None of these gears were bought from Clandestine by the way, so I'm not accusing Clandestine of anything. The unbalanced gears were bought from Airsoft Park, when I bought a set of SHS 13:1 ratio gears from Ehobby Asia later, there were no issues, so this may be related to that specific retailer.

So your saying that the defect could have just been a retailer issue? And also, how many sets if SHS gears have you had? And how many of those had issues?

I've had a total of 5 sets, 3 had various defects. All 3 lemons were bought from Airsoftpark, so that raises a significant suspicion against that retailer IMO. Yeah, I'm a slow learner, I'm never buying internal parts from them again, I'm sticking to the more serious and reliable retailers now.
