hello, I can do 20 pushups in a minute, run a 8:32 min. Mile, do 53 sit-ups in a minute and have a BMI of 21.5. I am a 14 year old American boy that just found out that I get British Citizenship by descent after I obtain my british passport. I will start working out this summer, what should I work on and what kind of physical shape am I in?
Ok so this Is my main Question, should I Join the British or American Army when I'm 18 years old? I've always been attached to the UK personally even though I've never been there but I get Citizenship by descent. But I've grown up in the USA.
So which country shall I join?

USA! USA! USA!
Join the army!!
Honestly that isn't that impressive, I am younger than you and all my stats that you listed are higher. That being said you aren't in the greatest shape, decent though. Check what the requirements are for what you wanna join. Go into JROTC, go to an office, find about what you wanna do.

Thanks for the criticism lol I know I'm not in impressive shape, but instead of telling me that you are in better physical shape, you could tell me what to work on lol, still looking for feedback on this question though as well because I'm still not sure which country so you guys need to explain why I should join whichever one.
Edit: yeah and thanks for the edited part:)

Id just join an American military unit. Sadly its not all about just strength you need to have some school background too. The ASVAB decides what jobs your eligible for. I hope your not just trying to join so you can go kick some ***. Most people who do that find out not a whole lot of that happens. I have about four friends that joined todo that and haven't seen anything but guard duty.

Do you have an idea of what you want todo?

Do you have any medical problems? Some stuff oh can lie through your teeth about but others you can't.

No I'm not one of those cod players that thinks "I'm so Uber leet that I am indestructible" I know Combat is just a sick thing. So onto career choices, I Am an Avid 1st Trumpet player in my HS Band. I am also a rather good vocalist. But I wouldn't have a degree entering when I'm 18 years old so I don't know about Musician. I wouldn't mind a combat career as long as it's Artillery Related and I get a Gun to hold. I like working in a team and Id want something that's not infantry because it leaves no job skills.

Simply for the fact that you've grown up in America, I say America just due to the fact that one of the few similarities between American and British cultures are their language, so joining the royal army would lead you to feel more or less semi-alien.

As far as fitness goes, you core muscles sound as thoughthey are decent enough for now, but the arm muscles and cardiovascular system need work. The us army requires that you be able to run a 24-minute 3-mile and perform 35 pushups consecutively, if that helps for reference. Pushups and dips will help with arm strength, and if you're short on time and can't run 3-miles a day, doing sprints help a bit, but there is some technique I will describe below that helps out just as much as running, except for in the leg muscles.

Essentially what I is, is you stand up straight, arms bent at the elbow in a 90* angle and jump up in the air. While in the air, tuck you legs into your body, then pull them out before you hit the ground, and bend them to put yourself in the position to do a pushup. Do one pushup and then bring your knees under you to put yourself into the position to jump again. Continually do so fluidly, and you can get your heart beating fairly quickly, without as much dedicated time as running, HOWEVER, it does not allow for the building of leg muscle as efficiently as running does, so running us still needed.

Hope this helps.

Have you spoken to your parents about that? I think they should also play a role in your decision.

yes its time to hit the gym lol, when i was 14 i did 50 pushups in a minute and ran a 7:30 mile. my vote would be stay loyal to your country. i have dual citizenship for the US and in Germany but i will join the Us military because this is my home and i will defend it.

That is a very good answer, more answers and feedback are welcome.

US. The British use the L85 a their standard rifle, and it sucks compared to most AR variants used by the US military.

And you're from the US, so why not stay with the US?

I guess I'm weird, I like the L85 far better than ARs for some reason, I guess it's the weird attachment to the UK that I have:)

If you compared the performances you'd like the ARs better.

No, I like the l85 over the ARs too, and the AK over the AR, and the... I think we know where this is going. Honestly though, the l85 is a good gun. Back on topic though, unless the gun is less accurate than lobbing the bullets, and you're supposed to snipe with it, the weapon isn't the important part, but the user that enables the weapon. If the Taliban began using ARs and we had to use AKs, we would still outdo them due to superior training.
Anyways, UI, I noticed you are wondering where to go with service, and that really depends on what your interests are. I have to agree with shifty in that you should bring this up with your parents, not only because you are their child, but also because they may have an idea on what might best suit you. After all, they've known you longer than you have.

Like I said, have you considered talking to your parents?

With the US troops, you are very likely to be sent somewhere and asked to die for a cause that otherwise would not really touch you. Same goes for the Brits, but the chances are slimmer. Whatever culture is closer to you, you should go there.

We follow a like 49% American Culture, a 49% British Culture, and a 2% Swedish Culture in my Family lol, thanks for the answers everybody! I'll talk to my parents and I'll look at differences between pay, careers, etc.

Great! If it's not too much to ask, would you be willing to post what you decide on afterwards?

Sure thing! I don't know why but Im leaning towards the British right now. I'll do some digging though and see if it makes a difference. When I was younger I had tried breaking my Attachment to the UK because I thought It was weird(it obviously is!) anyways, I kept on coming back to it because last year I didn't know I was a citizen by descent but I did some digging because of my attachment and sure enough since my dad was born there before 1983 and some other technicalities, I am british by descent, anyways I'll post my decision.

50 form pushups in a minute at the undeveloped age of 14? That's a little hard to believe.

Anyway, to OP- remember which ever you join, you make the commitment that one day you may have to kill members of the others. Sad but true

I would wait. You are only 14 and that is a very young age to start picking a career choice. If I had to pick though I would choose the US because you were born here and have lived here for your whole life. I would also suggest college before military so that way you have more career options if the military doesn't work out.

Ok that sounds reasonable, Thanks! But are there any benefits, etc. That I'm forgetting?

Absolutely 100% US Army. You DO NOT want to join the British Military, trust me, I live next to a base.

Did I stress that enough?
What occurrences make you say so, if I may ask?
