My friend wants to sell me thus gun for $20

It is not operational, but the gearbox is working( sounds normal)

Can it work with upgrade barrels, hop ups and buckings?

If so, what version parts do I need?

First link the gun. Assuming it isn't one of those dual powered pieces of crap you will need v3 parts...which you could have easily looked up, and yes it would work with upgrades.

Sorry, should I get into that progect?
I'm scared if the plastic hop up melted

How much could it be worth after I fix it and properly set it up for feild play(durability upgrades, accuracy upgrades, and a optical sight

Worth is a bit vague, I personally wouldn't try selling it for over a hundred, and uh what upgrades do you speak of? Because my rule of airsoft is "The more money you put into a gun, the less you're getting out". I would recommend a lot of research before a project, but I mean for 20 bucks it's probably worth it, worse comes to worse you may be able to get 40 shipped out of it.

I'm talking about if I deck this piece of s*** out, what would I get
    ($100 in upgrades)

What about if I go budget and sell this to a new player at my feild
(Just make sure it holds up and will perform good for a starter to get into airsoft($40 in upgrades))

What about bare minimum? (?? In upgrades, stock performance)

Just saying, but bumps are suppose to be every three days. I think you may have a misconception here, I honestly doubt you would get more than 50 bucks back if you put a hundred in upgrades into the gun, if you put 40 dollars in upgrades, I doubt you would get more than 10-15, to get the most profit I would advise fixing it, and selling it, just like that.

Assuming if he knows what he's doing. Which by the looks of his original post, I don't think he does...

Have a proper look at it, diagnose the problems. Look up guides on google and youtube and see if you can carry the work out. Once the asking price exceeds a $100, it becomes less likely that it'll generate interest.

well find a good scope that "looks" good

get a fore grip for the front rail (afg or whatever)

bare minimum would be to atleast clean the gearbox, re-shim, re-grease, re-seal.

if youre feeling nice.... add deans connectors, correct AOE.

for installing internal parts, ill leave that up to you.
