I read on another forum someone suggested leaving the UTG MK96 cocked over night to weaken the spring to reduce FPS. I'm looking to reduce my fps as I only shoot it in the basement and don't need to tear up my target trap. I'm also looking at a Laylax 110 APS2 spring but been told I may need a new piston & guide rod as springs aren't drop-in on the UTG MK96.

Has anyone done this, leaving it cocked for a period of time. Seems like it would come back to life after left uncocked for awhile. If out in the field for the day with the rifle cocked, wouldn't think it would really weaken the spring.
