I was taking apart my friends gun. I think it's a CA but I am not sure. Anyway when I popped out the first pin this spring and smaller pin also came out. I have never seen these before. Btw it's a stoner rifle M4.

Will upload pics in a sec

if it's what I'm thinking of, it's a retention system for the body pin, does the body pin have a couple of small indents in it?

Yup, there should be 2 small indents on the body pin, the spring and small pin go into a small hole on the right side of the receiver. out of curiosity does this gun have an ambi selector switch?

the switches? I'm trying to figure out how to take them off, or were you referring to the pin and spring?

The pin and spring. is the lever above the mag release button have anything to do with it?

that lever above the mag catch is a bolt release, on the right side of the receiver where the pin goes, there's a small hole, spring first then flat side of the little pin, then place the receiver pin in to the first notch.

on a quick side note, how did you take off the selector switches? I've been trying to take off mine to get the gb out

If your selector switch is not ambidextrous, there should be a little circle on the other side of the lower receiver where the fire selector switch is. It pops out outward, so find a way to tap it out from the inside. Then you have access to the little screw on the fire selector.

retention pin, spring, and body pin
    Image12222012192121.jpg

slide the spring into the small hole
    Image12222012192151.jpg

then the retention pin, flat edge against the spring
    Image12222012192308.jpg

after that slide back the retention pin and insert the body pin

sorry for the low res pics

Just out f curiosity, I'm guessing that is to keep the body pin from falling out?
