What is this called? And is it nessecary that the two prongs that hook on to the gearbox are there? One broke off when I was trying to put the gearbox back together.

depends on the spring strength. if it uses a buffer tube bolt, then it will secure that spring guide inside the gearbox. unfortunately, plastic spring guides are not reliable.

    btw, i recommend ginger lemon.

A buffer tube bolt is a screw that secures the buffer tube to the bun by screwing into the spring guide. I believe Alex was referring you to a better spring guide seeing that your is plastic.

ginger lemon... it's an awesome wall color for any room. color paint swatch bro.

since you don't have a buffer tube, i'm assuming that's a v3 gearbox. you will need to replace that spring guide with a metal. depending on your rate of fire and fps, i recommend a solid spring guide for 400fps builds. bearing spring guides works best for high rps at around 350 fps.

    It's a version 2 gearbox. It's a G36

G36s use V3 gearboxes, unless yours is some hybrid. What brand is it?

Another question. I put the gearbox all back together after like an hour of attempts and then I realized I forgot to put this in. First what is it? Second is it necessary and what does it do?

That's the anti reversal latch. Name is pretty self explanatory, it keeps the gears from going backwards.

yes, it's necessary. there should be an L shaped spring that goes with it.

Looks like part of the trigger assembly. The trigger goes right there. Am I wrong? On second thought it looks like your trigger contacts.

I'm not sure. Do you think it goes inside the gearbox?

Yes, if it came from the gearbox it needs to go back in. But ask someone else what that is. I'm not sure.
