Hello everyone. i have just started airsofting with my own gun, and already i have joined a milsim team, of witch i will be going to my first local milsim in may. but anyway, my team is known as the "mk18 squad", as everyone rocks a nice, fully modified mk18. then there is me. i recently got the gun stated above. i have been playing airsoft for a while, but this IS my first gun that i own. my team has not seen it yet. will i be able to keep it the way it is, or do i have to modify it with a dd 9.5 inch barrel and all the other stuff to be considered a mk18 mod 1. thanks.

You asking the wrong people if you gun fits your team's fancy - unless someone on here is on your team. Do they have strict rules of running a Mk18 Mod1? Maybe you should ask them if your G&G Mk18 would be acceptable... but just so you know, in general, a G&G "Mk18" is nothing close to a replica Mk18 Mod1. In order to be a true Mk18 Mod1, not only must you have the 9.5 RIS II, but you must also outfit the blaster with Block 2 accessories. A gun with simply a Mk18 RIS II is not a Mk18 Mod1.

Just by comparing pictures of the gun to the description of the parts on wikipedia, you have the wrong rear iron sight and the wrong flash suppressor. To me, that means you have a Mk18.

As a suggestion, though, just call or email the guy who runs the team and ask him. Or just buy the two parts.

Knockoff of the proper rear sight: http://www.evike.com/products/29468/

Knights Armament QD suppressor: http://www.ebairsoft.com/5ku101-style-silencer-14mm-p-5752.html

Those, along with the proper upper receiver, rail system, and barrel length, are basically what make a Mk18 a Mk18 as opposed to an M4.

well, i contacted my team leader and he said that as long as it is even barely similar, it fine. he said that he actually just modified it into a standard m4, so i guess we are not the "mk18 squad" anymore. so, from what i am gathering, i just have an m4, not mk18. which im fine with. but, since i have recently spent ALL my money on internal upgrades and have nothing left, can you name me all the parts i would need to make it an mk18? thanks to all of you.
