gas high capacity magazine thoughts

I absolutely love gas airsoft guns except for one thing their lack of ammo capacity. I recently converted my bravo rdw to gas using the ghk gbb conversion kit. I only.miss one thing from when it was an aeg thats an aeg's ability to take high cap magazines. So it got me thinking what if i built my own gas high capacity magazine (given to the fact that there are none on the market that i know of). I have a couple thoughts on how to do it but i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or comment's?

Btw this is for a airsoft gas rifle not a pistol (its basically the we gbb pdw just the mags a bit different). It looks like my profile pic only in black.

The reason why there are no gas rifle hicaps is because you can't store enough gas in the magazine to fire 200-300 rounds. When you factor in the efficiency loss from full auto and the cool down effect, going much beyond real caps gets hairy. Hicaps suck anyway. Learn to play without them and everybody will have more fun.

Actually now that I think of jt I do remember hearing about WE designing an 80 rd gbbr magazine. The only problem, like Knief said, is that the mag would have to be huge to hole the amount of gas needed especially considering the lack of gas effeciency of WE's products. I do think it would be plausbke for KWA to come out with a 60 rd mag just for the reason that my 40 rd LM4 mag alswas has enough gas for two full mags after only one fill.

60-80 rounds is probably doable if you anticipate that the shooter will use a lot of semi auto, Onoyplay in warm conditions, and only shoot a few rounds before giving the mag a chance to warm back up. Manufacturers can't make those assumptions because a bunch of kids will want to be able to blow the whole mag in one burst in 50 degree weather and complain if they can't.

how many rounds can a co2 powerlet in an m4 action get out? i know my kjw pistol can pump 70 rounds in 35 degree conditions, but then again the action is maybe 1/3 the weight and 1/3 the cycle distance.

Look at the surefire 60rd real steel banana mags. maybe incorporate 2 co2 cartridges.

I cant see this possible with Greengas magazines unless you use another, rare gas to power the gun

I understand that it would have to be big magazine witch was why i thought of using a drum mag (not sure how yet) it would only house 100 or so bullets and have a huge gas resivoir. Then it would be possible i think.

Just get an external air rig if you want the GBB aspect, but also want Hicaps. Or you could design a mag with two feeding tubes, like the JAC Uzi magazines, but you obviously would have to have a straight magazine, so no standard M4/PDW magazines.

If you wanted to get real fancy you could figure out a way to run HPA through the pistol grip and somehow put the feed lip from a gbb magazine on a normal highcap. But, if your going to do this you might as well buy an AEG.

There are a few people out there modifying GBB mags to make them Hi-Cap. Essentially, you would be drilling/threading a hole either into the gas reservoir or directly into the gas input under the feed lip and attaching a hose with a disconnect to run an external air source such as regulated CO2 or HPA. You would then replace the lower portion of the mag with the bottom half of a hi-cap mag and "hope" it feeds properly. AlyanAirsoft in Portugal makes them "commercially" but they have yet to really be proven. I actually recently purchased one from him for my WE G39, but will be returning it due to feeding issues. Like I said, there are a lot of people out there doing something similar to this, but I have yet to see one that feeds reliably.

Contrary to what one poster stated, Polar Stars were not created to cater to the GBB audience who also want to use AEG mags. Polar Stars were created to cater to the audience that wants to be able to easily tune their existing rifles, and wants better performance than a gear box can offer, regardless of added price. There is, in fact, no blowback mechanism on Polar Stars.

However, Daytona Guns/TNK Guns WERE created to cater to the mentioned audience. as CoppertopNeasg stated, the ideal solution for you would be to run a HPA line through your pistol grip, and use AEG mags. TNK/Daytona gun (henceforth referred to as DG) systems completely replace the internals of your existing AEG or GBBR body, depending on what DG system you buy. They do not have a huge lineup of rifles listed on their website, http://www.tnkguns.com/Airsoft.html but they have offered and/or continue to offer many more platforms, such as the SCAR Mk16, the L85, the M60, the FNAC, the ACR, and more.

DG/TNK system rifles are extremely reliable, have the most realistic kick on the market, and have very high quality internals. DG/TNK system rifles can be had at or around the same price as Polar Stars, and are arguably more reliable, depending on who you ask.

You can check out the DG/TNK system (demonstrated in this video video by the TNK SCAR Mk16) on one of their hand full of YouTube pages here:

Again, to clarify, the TNK/DG system is a gas blowback system that uses an external HPA rig, run through either the lower receiver or pistol grip, depending on the rifle platform and user preference, and DOES use AEG compatible mags.

Hope this helps anyone who is interested in the OP's concept.

Have a great day!
