What type of gun and exact model do you own?

Do you know what FPS your VFC gearbox is shooting at? My VFC 416 straight out of the box didn't like semi either and locked up quite a bit on full auto. I found out later that the GB was running a m120-m130 with VFCs low end high speed motor. I switched it out for a AMP high torque and it works perfectly. Also it could be electrical, cut off lever, and other strange uncommon things if your motor is not the problem.

 

Most likely a cutoff lever problem. How many rounds have you fired through it?

Mhm, check the selector plate for arcing or over scratched marks on the copper plating. Clean.

Or...

Also check the trigger switch assembly. Make sure the side where the selector plate touches isn't melted, arc'd, or acid'd out. Clean it or solder them together

I fired maybe 100 bbs through it. The year is 2011 model. It works with a 9.6v and not 8.4 v.
There were some bare wires that i covered up so hope this works.

 

if there was a problem with the cut off lever and it wasn't shooting in semi, it wouldn't shoot in full either. If it was the motor, it shouldn't be shooting on either mode as well. Does the VFC 416 use a two stage trigger or just a regular Version 2?

Edit: So the semi works with a 9.6 but not a 8.4, or does just the auto work with the 9.6 and nothing works with the 8.4?

 

nothing works with the 8.4. just testfired with 9.6 both semi and full auto

I figured. If what deathmechanic said is true, then you'll need a better motor to pull the M130. Otherwise, you'll be exhausting the battery, because it's working overtime to try and pull the spring with a weak motor. I'll also bet that the 8.4 doesn't last very long before the gearbox locks up, even after a full charge. The 9.6V works because the voltage is stronger, thus it can last longer pulling the weak motor.

If you could do a test for me, try and fire the 416 on semi a few times with the 9.6, make sure the gearbox isn't locked up. If it cycles alright, then i'll guess whats happening is that when you're firing on full and let go of the trigger, the piston stops just short of making a complete cycle, which causes the motor to stop at a point where the force required to complete the cycle is too great for the motor to over come.

Edit: Going back on your original suspicions, the motor height could definitely be part of the problem. Since there's no motor cage on V2's, they have a tendency to kinda jiggle around in the grip. You'll find that your trigger response quickens when you have the correct motor height, along with less of a strain noise coming from the motor.

 

I put a lipo on it with a deans plug. It fired for about 2 mags, not its totally dead. .

The red motor connector snapped off, and the fuse blew again.

AMP high torque, SHS Ultra high torque, or any other chinese neo magnet high torque motor.
