I noticed this product on ASGI and am considering buying it, and the mp7 but before I buy, I would like to know is the MP7 even the type of gun you can holster? Seems like it would be very awkward

That's because it IS awkward. Even if the holster was secure against your leg, the heavy weight of an SMG hanging on your leg is very distracting and you will get irritated with it easily. Even holstering something much smaller like a mac11 gave me the same problem, so I can only imagine it'd be worse with an MP7.
The MP7 has ambidextrious sling mounts, so I'd suggest just slinging it off to your side and pull it out when nessecary.

What would be the point of that? It's be the same thing, except now you just have another piece of nylon hanging around your torso. It would impair your access to the gun even further because you'd have to undo the straps, pull it out of the holster AND untangle the sling. Using both would just make things more complicated.
I think you have to rig the sling to hold the weight of the MP7 but have far enough to get in the holster so it's secure.
