Is airsoft Megastore really that bad?

To start out with, Mods if this is the wrong place for this feel free to move it.

Ok as I've been looking around on the forum i have noticed that many people hate airsoft megastore. My problem is no one that I've seen has backed it up with fact. The only place I have bought from so far is Airsoft Gi and all i can say for them is meh ( slow shipping, higher prices, but a nice customer service rep). As i looked on Airsoft Mega-store here have been my observations
Pros
* The overall visual appeal of the website is great
* They have VERY competitive prices plus their 125% cash back if you find a lower price (Not sure if they would pull through)
*Seem to carry a much larger inventory than most places and keep the newest guns in stock
Cons
* All of their guns are super duper tactical guns of tacticalness, im assuming they try to appeal to new players by overusing the world "tactical"
* They evidently test the fps of their guns with .12s because they claim jgs are shooting 100000 fps (slight sarcasm)

I cant say anything for shipping and customer service because ive never bought from them.

Feel free to leave comments on why or why not AMS is a good choice for airsoft products. Please keep them based on fact and not (my friend said) or (i had a family member who)
Thanks

Marine, do one of those threads contain my screenshots of evidence of AMS scamming people?

#5 ·
Sorry marine i always search for stuff but it comes up and either gives random stuff not relevant to my search or will say something like "no threads with these words found"

#6 ·
Alright, I'll post them later then. OP, AMS is a scam, that's coming straight form an employee of theirs.

I would love to see those pics shady

I saw them.

I don't really know what to believe, because what I heard from a different employee was it was the website software , and after it screwed up they did the wrong thing and shipped random guns out...

I really don't know. I haven't had problems with them.

AMS? Let me tell you a story about AMS. A good while ago, they had a sale. A massive, massive sale. Guns and gear was discounted for over 50% off! It seemed like a joyous time. They announced a spectacular deal, one for a King Arms BW15 CQB. A full metal, high-end AEG worth over $400 was said to be on sale for $50. However, it would only be released at a certain time, and everyone waited. That time came. Nothing. They announce a new time. People waited. Nothing. Finally, they come out with a time, something like 10PM in the evening. In California of course, so this angered many people. I myself was not bothered, it inconvenienced me a little, but it was fine. I sit, waiting at a McDonald's, as their WiFi is free, and I was away from home. I refresh, and refresh. There! It showed up! I purchase it, rushing through the order process. It goes through! I'm filled with joy. But what's this? Error? I go over my information, and eventually spot it and correct it. This happens twice. Still, at the end of the night I have a BW15 sent my way, for over $300 off. The next day comes, and I get a call. It's from AMS. They said that it was out of stock, and I needed to change my order. Okay I thought, I'll get something like a VFC, it's valued the same, right? No. They gave me two options. A JG G36 (that's right, a $120 gun) or an SRC M4 (the plastic AMS one). Enraged, I try to negotiate to a KWA CQR. Nope. Begrudgingly, I choose the SRC, as M4s appealed more to me than G36s at that moment. A week passes, I receive a package. I open it, and in it lies the worst purchase I ever made. The AMS SRC M4 is quite possibly the most plasticy, cheap, overall worse airsoft gun out there for over $40. My LPEG G36 had better externals. Angry, I still test to see if it even works. I shoot one burst. I try another, nothing. Me, being me, simply disassemble the gun, cutting off the tamiyas, and essentially rendering it useless. I get to the gearbox, the screws are already stripped. From that day on, I vowed never to order from AMS again. Best part? The sale was cancelled after that BW15 debacle, instead they were replaced by $15 off Chinese clones. And no one cared. Sure, there were some angry customers (including me), but overall, they came out with GOOD publicity.

Oh and Shady, were those screenshots related to this fiasco? I'm curious. I remember having a short conversation with you about that.

Yes they are related to the sale. We were about to go to Austin to have their Vendor status revoked, however the employee would like to remain anonymous do that was impossible.

Why did you pick a SRC over a G36C that you could have turned around and NIB for $90?
Two reasons.

1) I liked M4s better, and didn't know how crappy the SRC one was. (I was planning on upgrading and using it)
2) I was planning on getting a KWA G36 from a trade, but that's a whole different story (scammed again, this time by some kid in Washington, there's an entire thread on it somewhere...)

Oh i see. Did you pay $50? Heck I would sit up late at night to buy a JG G36C for $50.
Yep, the gun was worth (well, sold for) $100 new so I went with it. Little did I know the only scavengable thing on it was the gearbox and motor, and even those things had problems. And again, back then I didn't like G36s as much (or JG for that matter). Now I'm the proud owner of one, in the process of upgrading it :D

Thanks Shady I just wanted some hard evidence of why AMS was bad, i dont like how they lure in new players anyway but i won't ever be buying from them.

#24 ·
Their YouTube videos mainly lure people in. New kid wants to play airsoft so they YouTube it. Airsoft Megastore TV is mainly what they see most.

Airsoft megastore is the worst. It puts a bad name to airsoft marketing. With their "Authentic London Bridge" vests, the whole scavenger hunt thing, and the penny flashlight/lasers. I just wish we could get them shutdown for all the fraud they have done.

Ive had bad luck on two orders from ams. First off bought a save phace mask from them. Jungle justice for 45 dollars. Decent deal minus the fact it came without any packaging. Came in a crappy plastic bag. A dollar store quality bag. Next I ordered a bar 10 and a armorking plate carrier.

Plate carrier cane with the cable holding it together exposed and broken. I would like to thank ams for helping me experience the feeling of being impaled by a small sharp piece of wire cable.

Next bar 10 came broken, simple fix bolt was over torqued wouldn't slide. Ams=walmart of airsoft gear, lots of quantity low prices, low quality.
