seems to "click lock" when the hammer is resting, odd because 1911's safeties only work when cocked not in resting state.

Airsoft guns don't always function the same as real steel. My kjw officer 1911 does the same thing. It seems to just be how they work.
It looks like the spring in the safety detent is pretty strong in yours, which makes it push the plunger out too far. If it bothers you, snip a coil or two off the spring. If you take too much off you can stretch the spring a little to get the amount of tension you want on it.

My gun has been sitting for over a month and tonight I put it back together, now the safety works! The right side is still loose but the left, where the mag release is, is solid!
No idea how it happened, I do know the detent Spring got bent side ways but last time I tried it the thing still wouldn't work.
