I doesn't, but IIRC it does have a plastic/polymer/nylon fiber (don't remember what exactly) outer barrel. It supposedly helps the slide to cycle faster or something better than a metal one.

 

My guess is, the slide rubs against the outer barrel when it cycles. Rather than solve that problem or spend the money to coat the outer barrel with a durable enough finish, they decided to make it plastic and not deal with complaints of the paint wearing off early.

 

I heard the metal barrels broke the air nozzel...i was looking at my barrel for the longest tume wondering how the hell does the barrel break the air nozzel!?! I heard this from a kwa forum but i wonder if i made a steel barrel using a cnc machine if i could install the metal one instead?!
