Hey I'm new to airsoft and I'm going Friday for my first time :D being that airsoft mainly just became legal in Canada I'm wondering a couple of things.

How good is ur standard rental? It says its a rism4

What clothing should I wear to reduce bb impact and pain?

I already have a good mask and gloves and jersey from when I paintball I'm mainly worrying about bb penetration opposed to pain

I played some time ago, my first time too, and will be for a long time... Anyway, I'd recommend going with a hoodie, jeans or sweats, and a boot or a closed shoe. A RIS M4 is a standard M4 with a RIS rail system. Where do you live? I lived in Toronto for 2 years, best time of my life...

I'd go to an army/navy surplus store and pick up a set of M81 BDU's. That stops the bb enough it doesn't hurt much. Although I've taken hits on bare skin plenty if times in the 5 years I've played and it's not bad. And as for the gun, it will depend greatly on the brand.

I'm not ready yet to invest in any crazy military gear until I play it first I know I loved paintball I just hate how **** our fields are.. sand or goop seems to be the theme in the GTA
Dude, a set if M81 BDU's will run you $10.. Will work for paintball to.

You don't need much "Safety" gear. Bare minimum, proper eye wear.
Of course since this is your first time, you'll be squeemish thinking the worse. In all honesty, it feels like a rubber-band slapping against your skin or a bee sting. Yes it's gonna hurt a bit, but give it 3minutes and it's gone.

Since you're new, I'll say grab a pair of jeans and a hoodie you don't mind getting a bit dirty. As you play and get used to the hits, you'll probably eventually go out in a tank top and pair of jeans WITH EYE PROTECTION, and go at it.
Also remember a good pair of sneakers if you don't have boots.

Ya I'm no stranger to pain I mean u consider some welts u get in paintball.

But I think I have the jist of what to wear, I have a dye I4 goggle and invert gloves with a padded invert jersey however I get the feeling that wearring a pb jersey to airsoft would be like wearing blue to a bloods reunion lol.

Wear a full mask, unless your teeth aren't worth the extra $20 or whatever.

Brand of rental?

Rentals at my place are $50 for an ICS M4... You can find new G&G sportline M4's for $75...

Don't pay more than $30 for a rental, in my opinion you better off putting it towards a gun.

I played alot of paintball mostly woods ball and a little speedball. I have only played airsoft qcb and at a field speed of 350fps. I have definately bleed more playing airsoft. Some are real stingers....but airsoft to me is a short sharp pinch that I dont feel much the next day. Paintball bruises were def sore for a few days. Layer up if you like...I havent had penetration of the bbs wearing standard ACU's. In paintball we were required to wear full face masks. I tried it with my airsoft gun and couldnt get a good cheek weld so i use airsoft goggles and a shamugh. S getting shot in the forehead isnt pleasant.

I currently play both paintball & airsoft and I can tell you paintballs hurt a lot more than airsoft.
(depending on fps of both fields)

I wouldn't wear paintball cloths to an airsoft outing. Your mask is fine but ditch the jersey / pants and just wear jeans & some long or short sleve shirt. I usually just wear CB pants & a black T-shirt.

Like most say. Use a long sleeve shirt, a pair of cargo pants (doesn't matter the pattern, your not milsiming at the moment), a pair of boots (ankle protection is important) and the most important thing of all a mask to protect your money maker hahahaha.

As for what type of replica, well if your gonna rent or buy that is upto you.... I don't rent since let's say you rent a gun for $30 and you play 5 times (diffrent days) that my friend is $150. Right around the price of a JG M4 or a G&G CM.

So get yourself a good cheap intro gun and for a "loadout" I'd suggest something simple like a battle belt with 3 or 4 mag pouches and a dump pouch. And if in the end you don't like airsoft you can always end up selling your replica for most of your money back. But keep your battle belt and mag pouches for paintballing since the mag pouches and the dump pouch work for holding the paintball refill bottles (i don't know what they are called but I know they fit lol)

The extra 20 isn't a problem for most people; it's the fact that you can't aim worth crap with a full face mask.

Even at field you can use the hose method. I rarely use my actual optics. They really are useless unless your super milsim or you just prefer that blockage of view. I word suggest flak jackets, and a mesh or soft bottom. For CQB I would suggest getting a full face mask. Close combat is a lot more dangerous.
